This is a plastic surface finish comparator for milled, lathe turned, ground, and other finishes. Mine had a minor scratch (because it's plastic), but no real damage. I use it as a teaching tool in my Manufacturing class for engineering students, and it works great.

This is a good reference card to have as a machinist. The finish representations on the card are fairly accurate. I would prefer an all metal one but for as often (or a little) as I use it, is cant see spending more money on the metal one. This one does just fine for what it is.

This isn't a fancy metal comparator kit. It is a simple piece of plastic with surface samples molded in. I wouldn't use it for QC in a controlled production environment, but it is great as a cheap training aid and/or general guideline aid.

For the price this is a great comparator. I provide one to every engineer in my department. We do have the more expensive metal ones but these are in QC for all of us to reference when we need to.Vice President of Engineering

Limited selections for finishes. Hard to see. I wish there was a cheaper metal one, but can't afford to spend the $100+
