Some genius decided that wire nuts (the wrong size - way too small) were suitable for a 220V 40 amp heat pump connection. I wondered why the unit "banged" when it started or stopped. Having to do some other electrical maintenance on the heat pump service line, I disassembled what was once a disconnect (it was moved and original converted to a j-box) and stripped new conductor, properly added anti-oxidant, and completed the connection with these split bolts.Guess what? The heat pump has never been quieter. Worked as described. High quality.

Correctly sized for 00 AWG, worked perfectly for running separate 14 AWG ground wires back to the main 00 AWG ground line.

2 stars because of misleading description, not function of the product. I ordered more than one of these expecting to use on 4/0 entrance cable based off "0000" in the description. From the picture you can see an obvious size difference and that the package lists "8Str - 4 Str AWG" which is not in the description. Not only that it took more than 2 weeks to get when Amazon Prime had listed a couple of days. Make sure you research the part number on manufacturer's website before purchase.

This is a small bolt connector. I guess I should of read the description better, Number 10 wire would not actually fit in this. In my opinion the heaviest wire would be number 12

One of the items I bought was defective. A shoulder of the middle piece had a huge cavity (molding defect), it was basically empty inside. Since this part is supposed to hold the whole mechanical load of the connection, the item was not safe to use and was returned. The overall quality of the molding was so poor, that it was hard to turn the nut. I wold not recommend this product.
