****Revised Review****I finally got a chance to try out an upgraded model of this pump that the seller sent me, and I am very happy with the results. The new pump works just as I had hoped the first one would. I have found it useful for refilling a small diesel heater and other small pieces of equipment that are awkward to fill from a 5 gallon fuel can. I also tested out the automatic shutoff to see how that did, and it worked fine. I have to give the new pump and the seller 5 stars for their active support of their product and its performance. This item was really going to come in handy for transferring fuel from big gas cans into awkward gas tanks. The good is that it does work, but the bad is that it leaks at the base of the pump control housing and the lower pump that is supposed to go into the gas can is too big for some cans. if you can put the pump all the way into the gas can that you are pumping out of the leaky fuel will just go back into that can, otherwise you are going to spill whatever you are pumping all over the place.

Simple, easy to use device. Works as advertised. The motor/pick up unit requires an opening the size of my five gallon plastic gas can. If you are trying to pit it through a small open, it won’t fit. Overall, I am pleased.

The photos always show the pickup tube straight-as-an-arrow, but in reality it's a corrugated flexible tube, and has quite a tight curl from being packed into a shipping box.The first time I went to use it, the pump ran dry with half the gas still in the source can, because the intake was twisted up above the liquid level. I had to loosen the top and finagle the control head around, to wrangle it into a bottom corner and finish the job.On the second can, which was even taller, I was unable to get it to reach the bottom at all. If I'd been able to use the claimed 19 inches of reach, no problem! But it's simply impossible to get it to stick straight down.So I'm storing it hanging up with the pickup tube dangling straight down, so hopefully by the next time I need to use it, it might've relaxed a bit. If that doesn't work, I'll have to fashion some sort of splint with a stiff wire or something. That said, everything else is great. The start and stop buttons are easy to press, the battery holder is decent, the output hose is generously long, and the auto-stop function actually works. I got the 2xAA version so the pump speed isn't great, but that's fine, and I might bodge an 18650 holder in there just to have options. If I get the tube to straighten out, I'll try to remember to come update this review.

I bought this unit to transfer "out of date" generator gas into my cars. I used to pour it into a funnel but what a freakin' mess. So now all I have to do is place the full gas can next to the car, take off the spout cap, put the pump in the can and the spigot in the car gas filler hole and hit the switch. In a couple minutes the can is empty. No fuss...no mess. I'll use this to fill my generator tank too when the time comes. I did have one glitch that anyone using this product or any one like it might have. The issue was NOT with the unit, but with the can. I had two plastic Spector brand five gallon cans to transfer. I tried to insert the pump in the first, but could not get it thru the neck and into the can. I was really upset (thinking I'd bought the wrong pump) until I tried it in the second can and it went right in...WTF? Upon examining the first can more closely, I found that the forming of the plastic was at fault. There were three "globs" of plastic bulging into the neck passage that the second can did not have. So I poured the first into the second and pumped the gas into the car. I then ground down the bumps with my dremel tool until the pump fit. I then blew the shavings out with compressed air and flushed it with water and set the can in a position to fully drain and dry out. I suppose i could have inverted the can while working on it to allow the shavings to drop out and not fall into the can, but that would have been a tough working position. So long story short... if the pump does not fit... don't freak out until you confirm that the condition of the can neck (if it's plastic).

The price seemed fair, but the quality is poor. My unit leaked badly out of the box - as much gasoline sprayed out as there was coming out of the hose. None of the adapters fit my gas can, so I had as much gas on the garage floor as I did into the tank. I returned it.

Saves my back filling equipment tanks with five gallon gas cans. No more holding the can in the air while filling tanks.
