This kit comes with all the replaceable pieces behind the timing belt cover. The install could probably be done in 2-3 hours. The only real hold up doing this job is getting the crank pulley removed from the vehicle.The method that worked for me after using both an electric and air impact wrench was to open the inspection cover of the transmission/torque converter and have another person hold a broad tipped screw driver braced against a piece of metal in the area (if you do it this way, you will see the metal brace, it appears it was made for this very reason). Then on the crank pulley bolt I used some extensions to where the wrench would clear the wheel well and used a jack level pole to brake the bolt.Sadly after removing the old parts it appeared they were fairly new, but I had no maintenance records for the vehicle and it was due.

Purchased for my 89 Honda civic base 2 door hatchback. All the parts came as advertised and as usual with prime shipping, super fast. I asked my mechanic if they were good quality parts, and he said gates is top of the line. He also told me that they fit perfectly with no issues. I believe the installation charge on this was 1.9 hours for the belt and another .5 hours for the pump. So about 2.5 hours of labor. That was the estimate I was given, and charged upon.

The timing belt kit is missing the timing belt.It looks like the set was repackaged without the belt before shipping. Heavy metal parts were packaged in a wobby plastic tray with loose plastic wrap. Gates would never package their products in such flimsy packaging for shipping. The belt tensioner spring is in loose with the waterpump. That almost guarantees there are scratches on the finish machined metal gasket sealing surfaces.

This is a high quality set of components, just as I expected from Gates. The instructions were very clear and helpful. A great deal compared to buying the parts individually.

Gates is a good belt- Made in USA- Gates Unitta make dealer belts for Honda which I suspect are a little better (Japanese made). But the belt is not the problem. It is the MADE IN CHINA water pump and the tensioner which is made in Korea. Generally Korean products are pretty good, but the most critical part here is the bearing which MUST be made in Japan. As for the cheap junk MADE IN CHINA water pump never again. I just had a brand new (not rebuilt) made in China AC compressor blow up less than 3 years old. Professionally installed. I knew better and they tried to warn me. I have learned my lesson- if you want to re-buy the parts and do the job ALL OVER AGAIN- buy this kit with its MADE IN CHINA water pump and see how it works out for you. Hopefully you won't bend your valves and have to rebuild your engine in the process. Shame on you Gates- a good company who makes good belts- you suckered me in with your good name and reputation and slipped me some inferior junk parts. They are being returned to you.P.S. I will still use Gates belt but don't buy these cheap components. Look for Japanese made ones.

None of these parts fit the D15Z1 engine found in the 92-95 Civic VX Hatchback. The Gates manual that comes with the kit even claims they do. The Water pump is too tall, this belt has 106 ridges instead of 103, and the bracket doesn't allow the tensioner to attach. Find another brand kit for your VX.
