These are awesome equipment boxes, the wheeled support functions quite well and the lid catches fit great. They had quite a few to choose from; I bought the 16U. Great value and protects my $3k worth of radios just fine.

It's a network/AV rack that you can take on a flight or ship across the country. The panels fit pretty well. Plenty of rack screws are included - for all four posts. The latches are really good. If they could add a flange or hole for a lock, I would give it 5 stars.

Why I gave zero stars. Molded 8U Rolling RackArrived with a messed up box.It was a clear return because the screw packet was ripped open in the middle. Also the box had two other labels one over the other with the top one's address marked out.As soon as mine shipped (within the hour) the price was changed to $239.95 $60. less. I was told it was to late to cancel or get a credit. As others have stated. the lids do not fit. I was not expecting waterproof, but with expensive radio equipment on board. I was not wanting to see straight through into the box. For $299.95 it should have been better. Also there was a lot of plastic scrapings in the box as well as the loose screws and washers that were thrown back in, or fell out of the bag.

We always love the cases from Gator! And this one is also good. Lightweight, smooth lines, wheels roll easliy, handle opens and stores easily. Good machining of rails and screws. Only one complaint: the front and back detachable lids contained small plastic particles, shavings left over from the manufacturing process. We vacuumed them all out, but that should have been done by the manufacturer.

This is the second Gator case of this model. My first one is a 6U, and I just bought this 8U because I needed a tad more space. Both cases are extremely solid and sturdy, but very lightweight.I totally dig the rollerblade-style wheels -- they're soft to help cushion bumps in the sidewalk, yet strong enough to survive asphalt without hesitation. I've read that some people complain that the telescoping, luggage-style handles are flimsy, but they seem fine to me. The larger 8U model does seem to twist at little easier (since it's bigger, of course), but I don't have any complaints.I've also read that you have to send off for the second set of rear rails, but both the 6U and the 8U I bought had them already installed, so apparently Gator did a little update.Overall, I'm VERY happy with this case. I have a few thousand dollars worth of gear installed in these, and I trust them completely.

This is for the 8U rolling version (I purchased two for use with band equipment). They are OK, but seem to be sloppily designed and fabricated:- The horizontal spacing between screw hole centers is less than the standard 18.312" / 465.1 mm. As a result I have some components I have to drill out to allow them to be mounted.- As designed, when two of these are stacked, the top one will not sit flat on the bottom one, which was kind of the point of getting two of the same model.- Both were full of shards of plastic from where someone must have used a hand dremel to make room for the wheel mechanism and not bothered to clean them out.

The pull handle seems fragile. No problem with the rack itself.
