As a gavel collector/afficionado (with some three dozen in my collection from all over the globe), I have to admit that I found this one o Amazon, and it intrigued me because of the sounding block. It turned out to be a very high quality gavel set, with superior craftsmanship--and--striking sound quality. It is attractive, and well worth the money.

The price of the gavel was pretty decent compared to the ones that are custom made. The sound was one that could be heard in a noisy room when calling a meeting to order. Craftmanship was okay but finish wasn't great.

As a new committee chair, I need a plain, simple gavel to use conducting meetings. This item fit the bill. No pretentiousness, just a gavel and block for the ceremonial functions. Recommended.

Nice set except for something sticky was all over the block. Like pop or something had been spilled on it. Not sure what ist is!! I had to use alcohol on it to get rid of it and it took the slight finish off.

This is a very sturdy gavel. I bought it for a student gift. Only drawback was that the head does not screw off, so it would be difficult to put a gavel band on it.
