My intensions aren't really for this to become public. I'd rather wish to be in touch with the seller direct and don't mind dealing w/them on any workout options. We bought this item, since there's no phone jack in the area where we need the phone. The product hasn't performed form day one, as expected. There has been an abundance of background static almost 100% of the time in use. There's also a gap of a good 10-15 seconds minimum from the time of dialing till we get connected, or vice versa (when other's call us). This item has not served our needs, and we'd like to return it.

I bought the Magicjack before I bought this because I was sure it wouldn't work but, after playing around with it I have it working flawlessly. The Magicjack is hooked up to a laptop, which is wirelessly connected to the modem 3 rooms away. Hook a splitter up to the magicjack port and hook one end to the Instajack and the other to your phone system. Now, plug the other instajack to the wall you want your other phone, in my case I wanted it hooked up to the Dish Network receiver. Plug it in and play with the menu onscreen with dish and your set.

Sound quality was OK but the item did not allow the Caller ID to function at all. Item returned.

We purchased the GE-Instajack believing it would solve our want of jacks problem as it claimed to be as good as regular jack and was caller ID compatible. However, what we found out was that: (a) if you talked longer than 30 seconds (through all the static), the phone would go dead; and (b) after calling the manufacturer complaining about this and the fact that caller ID was not working, were told the claim "caller ID compatible" just meant that a phone with caller ID will operate on the system but the caller ID function will not work --pretty misleading if you ask me. They gave us tips on resetting the units but it never worked for us. Anyway, we took care of the problem by paying the phone company to come out and install a real phone jack... - something we were trying to avoid (and save money) by purchasing the GE Instajack. -Not worth the frustration!

It technically worked for a short while (which is why I didn't give it one star). I used it for less than 1 day. When first installed, it worked, although I noticed the dial tone wasn't as clear on the speaker phone as it normally is. I use a Polycom speaker phone when working from home and people on the dial in meeting immediately noticed a difference in my voice quality. In about an hour there was terrible static and it hung up. I then scramble to dial back with my cell.I also noticed that when my laptop was plugged into to a different outlet on the same home circuit, there was a buzzing sound on the phone.I ended up running a very long phone line from one room to another. My wife doesn't like it, but at least it works.Take away: If you need a very reliable and clear phone connection, this is not the product for you.

This is a terrible product for those of you out there that can tell the difference between a line with noise on it and a line that's clean. It really deserves a negative 3- star rating.Spend your money on installing a jack connected to the interface box. Don't waste your time (and money) with this ill-conceived device. On the other hand, if you don't mind hearing alot of buzzing and static while you talk, then this is the solution for you!

Installed per instructions and it is working great. You MUST follow the instructons to achieve successful results. Product review receives five stars.Update: We moved into a new house three years later and it STILL works great. Caller ID still good and also works with our fax machine. Thanks GE!
