I live in a small town with ancient water supply system. Supply pipes in the street are rust lined and flaking and the water tastes funny. This whole house filter takes care of all that. My house was re-piped with plastic pipes and now my water tastes fine and my white clothes and dishes actually turn out clean ! Filter is very efficient and easy to replace. Supposed to be changed about every 3 months. I live by myself and don't use much water but because of all the crud it has to remove, it seldom lasts a full 3 months. So it winds up costing about $10/mo for clean, fresh tasting water at every faucet, in the shower, and even clean water in the toilets (no orange rust tint). I am very satisfied with this product. And the throughput (flow rate) is excellent because of the large surface area of this filter.

I have a FXHSC in the line before passing water through this filter. That helps keep the heavier things like rocks, ants, ... that the well pump kicks down the pipe at me from even getting to this thing. Frankly, I'm pretty lucky in that this filter sees very little action (as far as I can visibly discern). My water is pretty clean to start with, to the point where I have consumed it several times without filtration of any kind when I accidentally left the filter housings in "bypass" mode after doing filter changeouts. That's not to say I don't think this filter is the right thing to do - I'm certainly still buying them! In my specific case, this filter helps reduce the amount of sodium hypoclorite (bleach) in the water. That bleach is part of long-term/backup water storage in a cistern that routinely gets flushed/refilled. Without this filter, that stored water would be less palatable for some. I kinda like it on occasion - it really cleans the pipes! LOL

I purchased a home that has a GE GXWH30C water filter which hadn't been replaced in 9 (!) years. Unfortunately, the only way to replace it was to shut the water off from the street, so I called a plumber to install a shut-off valve so I could do it myself.I understand there are other less expensive filter elements from both GE and Culligan, however this one is reputed to remove the most chemicals and debris, so this is the one I chose. It fits perfectly, and our water tastes great and has no visible contamination. I now replace it every six months as there's only my wife and I living in the house. The recommended interval from GE is every three months. If you own a GE GXWH30C and need a filter replacement, this one fits perfectly and was the lowest price I could find. In the spirit of full disclosure, I am an Amazon Prime member so I get free shipping and no tax in Florida. Other sites charged shipping and tax, so while the filter may have been a couple dollars less expensive, the tax and shipping put them over the top.

Works well. Use as replacement every few months. I hope they continue to manufacture them.

These are “whole house” filters, not “under sink” - much bigger.Work great - water tastes good, no chlorine odor, & based on black color when I change them out, they are trapping nasty “contaminates”!Been using for many years, in RI & FL.

I have a well at my house and this filter is amazing. It helps cut down on order, metallic tested, and with the sediment.

Convenient since we have to replace it every 6 months and it’s the same price as the big box store with faster delivery.

We had some of the best tasting water in the world, straight from the aquifer....then they started chlorinating our water! I was dissapointed every time I took a sip, so I ordered the GE GXWH35F and this filter. The water is once again fantastic and I didn't notice any pressure drop at all....love it!!

GE Filters with Carbon are perfect. Not just a paper ribbed filter. Would buy again.
