Works well, it comes with a short section of rubber tubing to cover the point, which is better than nothing.

bought it because i lost my last one and i dont think i'll be very happy losing this one. larger than my last one with a surprisingly powerful magnet on the rear of it. yes you have to twist the cap on fairly tight in order for it to not slip out at all, but do you really need to tighten it that much? also, for the person who said what do you need the clip for other than poking holes in your shirt, reverse the scribe point in the thing and you wont poke holes in anything and it holds it in very nicely. though i do wish the knurling was a little more aggressive, its plenty for normal use. my only problem is "made in china", while i do accept its a low priced scribe, my general tools thread pitch gauges were made in the u.s., as was one of my old automatic center punches made by general. guess they all have to go west sometime for the basic products.(leave us to make the harder stuff with higher quality)

I already owned an earlier version of this scribe. I liked it so much I bought an extra one for a friend. I especially like the magnet; it's even stronger than the one on my earlier version. It's great for picking up the cuttings from drilling holes, particulary if you put a plastic bag or saran wrap over the magnet. Makes it easier to get them off of the magnet.

This is a handy little scribe that you can maneuver into tight spots, such as "Gasket matching" ports on heads, or locations formachining/grinding metal surfaces. The magnet makes it easy to set on any metal surface while needing to use both hands,then picking it "off" that surface to continue to use it. I do suggest that a plastic or rubber tip be added if the "pocket clip" is to beused while working, as the tip will easily penetrate any cloth to contact the skin. Overall, it is a nice added asset to my othercarbide scribes, most of which are much longer, expensive, and more delicate to use and store.

Wanted a scribe for marking pavers and slabs that wouldn’t roll away. With a magnet on one end I can leave it with my trowel and it’s still there next time. Brilliant.
