I read some other reviews complaining about the slide being "up side down" or the end had fallen off. I suspect the real problem is just the lack of instructions. I can't see any way the slide can be upside down because it will work fine either way. But, if you need to use a distance that requires the pen to be closer to the ball bearing end or the fine point end, you can just pull the end off and reverse the slide. that brings up the point that one end is pointed for curves with fine points, and the other has a ball bearing on it for broader curves. As far as the ball bearing goes, some have complained that the bearing doesn't always turn. --I can't imagine this making any difference; it will still trace the same curve. I'd say it's a great tool, well worth the price. But if you hate plastic, it would be fairly easy to make your own out of wood or aluminum.

The bearing could spin better, but for the price it does the job.

This is a very poor quality item. Nice concept but so poorly made it can not be used with any accuracy. The holder that the pencil slides into is made with plastic threads that screw through a metal nut that will not pull the threads tight enough to hold the pencil and strips the threads. May as well tape a pencil to a stick for better results.

It did not want to move when I first got it, the adjustment is done by a plastic screw that feels very very fragile, I don't imagine this will last long.

Exactly, there was nothing to read. Nothing to make an inquisition of? I’m not sure what my understanding is of this tool, but I thought it was supposed to help me duplicate an outline or something, but there’s no instructions with it. I supposed to make it up as I go along? Or perhaps it should be some instructions in it

It’s a bit big but it still serves its purpose well
