This things is solid. I chose the buckle close over velcro belts because sooner or later the velcro will wear out. This belt should last a lifetime. It is fairly stiff right now, but that is to be expected. It should soften with use as any leather lifting belt will. It does have padding inside that back portion. This keeps the belt from digging into your back and helps fill the small of your back for support as well.

In fairness, my heavy lifting days are behind me, but this was perfect for my costume as Franz (remember Hans und Franz from SNL?). Reflecting on my days as a true lifter, this belt would have been great. Sturdy, padded in the back, not too wide or narrow. Heck, maybe it’ll get me to start doing deadlifts again!

I bought as a present for my boyfriend. It’s very well made, the sewing is very good. The fabric inside is very soft, which makes it very comfortable for working out. He loves it.
