I can't believe I waited so long to get this. It makes perfectly even slices (you can choose between 2 sizes) and has a nice crumb tray.

Love this bread slicer. Has even become somewhat of a party trick. Everyone thinks it’s so cool. But it does work perfectly and I like that it has the different size slices to follow as well.

While it was nice to have even slices already cut for my family to enjoy, there were issues.1. The end pieces of the unit I received do not fit over the bread guide slats.2. After only one use, I noticed tiny splintering on the slats as I sliced.I am going to try a plastic one. I have read in some reviews that splintering is also an issue, but I'm on the hunt. I had a wooden one before; I wish I could remember the brand.

I have never had a bread sliceing guide before, but have wanted one for a long time. Finally got this one (these bamboo guides are a dime a dozen) and frankly, they are plentyful so finding one of this exact same style is not difficult. Actually easier to fine than they are to use. Just did not like it, in fact, its way to finicky and difficult to use. Yep, something so simple is difficult. My loaf was smaller than the slicer and try as I may, the loaf kept slip sliding around and I had to adjust after each slice.This thing kept disassembling its self (ends come off) because they are not attached…just sitting on there, and my knife kept getting up against the "bamboo fingers" which I thought were spaced too far apart from one another as to as to eliminate any thought of these being "guides" Half way through the loaf I had fiddled with this thing far too much and I set it aside and free-handed the rest. Simpler with out it. Would not buy AND now that I have tried one I realize the "thought" of one is better than having one. My thoughts……useless.

It is difficult for some folks to make uniform slices of homemade bread, but it is downright impossible for me to achieve it unaided. The plastic slicers never last for long before I have to throw them away because I don’t like little plastic shavings on my sandwich. This bamboo slicer is the best one I have seen. It allows for different (but uniform) slice thicknesses, is made from sustainable bamboo, and has a slide out crumb catcher tray to keep the mess contained. The way they have made it is engenius. The raised base is about 2†off the counter and is 8†wide and 11†long. There is a groove running along the length of both sides of the base (underneath) that holds the crumb tray. When not in use, the crumb tray also holds the slicer components so you can stand it up on the end and only take up a 2†x 8†amount of counter space. The slicer guides are flat pieces of wood, with 2 different thickness guides – ¼†and â…œâ€. They are different thicknesses on opposite ends of the guides so you get different thicknesses depending on which end you slice from. The guides fit into long slots at the base, of which there are 4. This allows for different width loaves to fit between the guides by simply moving the guides further apart or closer together. They are held vertical by sliding at least one end piece into the appropriate horizontal channel of the base, and the appropriate vertical channels. If your loaf of bread is long, you can leave off one of the end pieces so it can fit. The whole thing can be washed in warm soapy water & dried if it gets sticky, but most of the time I can just wipe it off with a dry cloth and empty the crumb tray. I love the way my sandwiches and toast slices are perfectly even now.
