I purchased these to replace a damaged set of snares on a drum I was selling. I normally use , but these were the less expensive of the two and for my purposes they were deemed good enough. I'll directly compare them to the PureSound model above. These are a little brighter sounding than the PureSound. They were also a little 'wetter' sounding at the same tension, so if you are looking for a snare set for those characteristics, this set is a bargain. They come with two nylon straps that are 5/8" wide. I prefer to use grosgrain ribbons because those allow the snares to seat closer to the head, and to resonate better. I usually purchase that stuff in bulk (), so had plenty on hand to not have to use the included nylon straps. I strongly recommend that you consider the same.Overall, these are better than I expected from relatively generic snares. To be honest, if I were keeping the snare drum on which I installed these I would have gone with PureSound, but that is only because that brand has a darker sound that I prefer. You cannot go wrong with these if you are okay with a brighter, wetter sounding snare drum.

I've put these snare wires on 3 different snares and got excellent results. You can get a very fat, wet sound or a decisive "CRACK"! depending on how you tune your heads and simply loosening or tightening the snare wires. I was really surprised at the increase in sensitivity at low levels, too. I always recommend using your favorite high quality drum heads, but if you feel like you're missing that "extra something", try these before spending a lot of $$$ on different heads or giving up on the drum. I have and old Pearl Export ELX 14x5 wood snare(included with the drumset) that I'd tried different combinations of heads on and couldn't quite get the sound I wanted. I put these wires on, and it was just what I needed to make the sound very good to great! Now I get a great sound whether I use standard or 'controlled-sound' type heads. Currently it has an Aquarian HE on top & Evans Hazy 300 on bottom. At ~ $20.00, you can't go wrong!

This is just what I needed. For the price, it's amazing. Definitely reliable and I would recommend purchasing. It comes with nylon straps. I used them in a used kit I just got. Snare wires were a lil messed up. $8 later and snare sounds even better!

This worked just as expected. Upon doing some research I found that with a higher count than standard you will encounter more "buzz" when playing other Tom's... and honestly I have noticed slightly more resonance. But while saying that, they definitely add more of a crisp crunch to my snare. On the fence if I'll keep it on. Probably NOT the best option for recording maybe more oriented for a live setup. Local music store wanted double amazons asking price so the value is there.

The Gibraltar SC-4467 14" 20-strand snare wires are the quintessential bright sounding snare wires. Superb replacement for stock 20-strand Ludwig snare wires. They just plain work and are a dependable and reasonably priced alternative. I always keep a few in my gig bag for emergencies.

Put it on my Ludwig Supralite. Now has a nice blend of the steel shell and snares. The 42 strands smooth out some of the harsher high ringing. Love it!

I was encouraged to try a set of snares with more wires to alter the sound of my snare drum, a desire I had expressed to friends. This is exactly what I was after, and it is exactly what it says it is; however, I must have a defective ear because I can't really tell much difference in the sound of my snare drum. Oh well, it still sounds like a snare drum, and that's what matters most, I guess.

Choose this one to put it on a 14 x 8 Mapex snare. My intention was to use it as a fat snare, but it will need more stuff (dampening and tuning) to get what I intended. Still don't know if I like or hate to quantity of buzzing that this makes. what I really thing is that maybe is not the number 1 wires you put on your main snare.

Does the job it’s required to do, and at a fraction of the cost of the fashionable alternative.

I have an expensive snare and it's sounded terrible, been struggling to get it sounding better. Never thought the wire could make such a difference. It sounds amazing now, night and day. Will use these from now on.

It did what I wanted (fitted it as an extra snare in my cajon ).
