We feel strongly that a brand that specializes in music gear accessories should also be fully staffed by people who have a passion and love for the product. So, Griffin is fully operated by musicians and DJs. We have complete understanding of all our products from portable stage platforms, audio racks, to adjustable keyboard stands, because we commonly use our own pro-audio gear. Productive Wood Drum Shell Manufacturing and Modification
All of our drum shells are manufactured from hand picked quality poplar wood panels. The wood mill cuts and delivers to our factory proper sizes for our shells by a computer-controlled saw. After the gluing, rolling, drying, and sanding process, the drum shells are checked for a level check, and measured for accuracy at a 15% sample rate. Next, the laminate wrap is applied, and holes are drilled into the shell for hardware, and sands down the edges of the shell for snare beds. Next, all hardware, drum heads, and snare wires are assembled to the drum shells. Finally, before packaging and shipping to our warehouse distribution location, our quality control technician visually inspects all the drums, and does a performance sound sample with a 5% sample rate. Once the inspections passes our standards, the finished production ships direct to our loading dock, where our sound technicians perform yet another & final sound sample before we enter the inventory as ready to be fulfilled.
We Take Sound Serious.
Our instruments and studio equipment are sound sampled by our hired sound technician. We focus on being competitive, all while not sacrificing quality of sound. Since most everyone at our brand has an extensive musical background, we are very rigorous in the sound quality process of equipment. Additionally, it allows us to act quickly and communicate efficiently with our factories production manager on when we see a need for improvement. Before and after each batch run from the factory, our instruments are sampled to confirm the quality, pitch and sound specs remain consistent from our previous production orders.

Many inexpensive Chinese instruments ( brass in particular) doom beginners to frustration and failure because of the poor quality.(Please do NOT buy your kid that $100 trombone or trumpet!)BUT ---- this drum, at $38 is quite well made. My grandson was delighted. His parents not so much! :DI played it some, and it sounded fine with good response. The wood was nicely finished. The lugs look a little cheap but hey... $38.The throw-off ( snare control) is fine for a student drum, and it has a muffler adjustment. It came with a lug wrench.This is definitely not a toy drum - it's a good value student snare.

I used 3 of these drums to build my own custom billiards table lighting as I couldn't find anything that I liked on the market already made.I'm a long time drummer and own many different pro level drums currently and in the past. So I'm going to give my most honest review of these drums from what I saw as I completely disassembled each one for my project.First of all, the heads alone are almost worth the cost here so all of the stuff following that I have to say is just for people to understand what they're buying, not to say the item isn't worth the price.All 3 of the drums I received were the same wrap finish. The wrap was in good condition with no issues. The lugs and other hardware is cheap (what do you expect on a $40 drum?) but finished well with no cosmetic issues. Perfect for my use in this project. The drums are made of relatively soft wood and they were all slightly out of round with slight bearing edge imperfections. This would make tuning these drums pretty difficult.I would say these drums could be used for beginners with no issues. If you are unsure if your child will stick with drumming or like me you would like to use nice looking, matching, drums for projects; I think these drums would be perfect. If you're looking for a good snare drum for live use, or anything more than the beginner player, I suggest you look at other options and raise your budget!I would absolutely buy these again and think they were the perfect solution for my needs. The seller shipped them quickly and even included a nice bottle opener!
