Significant improvements over the older design. More metal, better locking mechanisms. I'm puzzled about the receiving hole for the umbrella/modifier shaft - there's no way to lock the modifier shaft in place (no screw pin to tighten). There's a small metal spring in the receiving hole that appears designed to produce some friction, but the shaft slides fairly easily. I've used this with an enclosed modifier (octabox) and that's fine because parts of the octabox help keep it from sliding.In short, this is great for use in an enclosed modifier, but I can't recommend it for use with an umbrella unless you're not going to move it once it's set up.

Thoughtfully engineered though they still haven't resolved the umbrella hole issue (you'll need to enlargen it slightly with a drill bit.) Fast delivery and a durable product...

Purchased this item to use as a bracket for the Godox V1 flash. Fits the flash like a glove and holds it very securely! It also has an adapter for square faced flashes like my Canon 430 EXII so it is versatile. The bracket fit perfectly onto an old light stand that I already own so it was a win win for me.
