Pilot holes requiredInstalling delicate screws such as these into hard maple requires great care and accuracy. We highly recommend using a No.50 bit for the pilot hole before installing these screws. Lubricate the screw threads with cutting lubricant (also wax or a bar of soap) to reduce friction and help them thread properly.

I have installed these on an Ibanez AFB200, which ships with similar looking machine heads. But in an effort to combat neck dive (I assume), they used tuners with cheap looking plastic knobs. For anybody who's curious if the Gotohs will this instrument: Yes, they do, with minimal adjustments. I had to widen the drill holes minimally, with a bit of rolled up sand paper. The screw holes in back, for the small screws that keep the tuners from spinning, did not have to be re-drilled at all. The Gotohs, while slightly heavier, look great and work like a charm. Well worth the investment.

Purchase Date: Dec 02, 2019Price Paid: $64.63My GF's Dean (Edge 09) bass guitar is seldom used, but well cared-for. She plays it sporadically, and I tune it for her. A few weeks back, I noticed one of her tuners was stripped, and started shopping around for replacements. At first, I was thinking of going the cheap route, but the parts looked just as crummy as what was on from the factory, and if failure after her infrequent use was an indicator, those cheap parts would fail in a few years too. I saw the Hipshot open set for $120+, but deemed these a little too much for her needs. These tuners have a large spindle for the string, and much better machined (not cast) threads for the collar nuts. The gearbox is smooth and silky, and the parts look very nice. The only slight problem I had was that the holes for the small screws on the back are "slightly" farther from center, by about 1.5mm. I decided to fasten the screws in at a slight angle, and if there are problems later, I will turn the tuners and drill a new pilot hole. The angle is negligible, anyway. All in all, these parts are great, and feel like they are built to last.

Installed these on a 90’s era Ovation Acoustic round back 4-string bass. The original Gotoh tuners on the bass had corroded after more than 30 years of life, and while they still worked, they were becoming worn mechanically and pitted visibly. These are a huge upgrade over Gotoh’s tuners of years ago, but installed as direct replacements without any need for modification of the headstock whatsoever. They’re sooooo much better! Highly recommend!

This won't fit your Yamaha RBX 170.Made the mistake of just going by a picture here with an RBX 170. ------ Now is my turn to save you the aggravation. ---------- ;)The way I did it :Use a 16mm (not 12mm) reamer tool, you can easily find one on Amazon for &10.00.Gently widen the tuning peg holes until your new bushings fit really tight, you can gently tap on them with a rubber hammer as is better that they fit tight not loose.make sure your peg is really at a vertical angle before attaching your single screw and you can fill the old screw holes with toothpicks if needed. These are a very solid product and keep my bass in tune always!

Bought because a stock tuner broke on my kid’s Ibanez mezzo srmd200. No extra holes to drill/ream. The shaft on these is probably twice the diameter of the Ibanez stock tuners, so give yourself more length when restringing. Tuning is smooth and holds.

I'm trying to replace the crappy stock tuners on a Yamaha TRBX174EW. They have tuning keys like in the add here. These might still fit, as I think they're compatible, but I'm going to get a Hipshot extender on the E and it matches the GB7, not the ones that were sent. I'm sure these are great but they're not what I ordered 😕
