Nothing negative in this review is the pump's fault. Very happy with the pump, the quality, the packing. Installed this new pump and a new pressure tank with a tee. The pump primed with no issue, I was surprised at not having to fill the 200 foot line prior to priming. There was some water in the line still, but I would guess only 25% full at most. I poured water into the pump and turned it on. It did the rest. NOTE: Don't put a check valve between the pump and a pressure tank. The switch was mounted on the pump, and I had a tee with a check valve between the pump and tank. This caused the switch to fill up the tank and once the cutoff pressure was reached, an on/off/on cycle happened instead of cutting off. I read this is due to the check valve closing and causing pressure change at the switch. Maybe mounting the switch on the tee, which would be on the other side of the check valve would work, but I removed the check valve and replaced it with a ball valve and removed the handle. This way if I want to service the pump, I can close the valve, service the pump and open it back up to backfeed water from the pressure tank to prime the pump. I'm hoping this pump lasts a long time. The only issue with the pump, which isn't really an issue, is vibration caused by mounting my 1" pex lines to the floor joists. Otherwise the pump is quiet and very well made. I would purchase again if longevity isn't an issue. The manual was kind of useless for my install, because I wasn't just installing the pump. Different connection scenarios would be a helpful addition to the manual.

I just installed a j10s pump. It is having a hard time starting. Pressure switch sounds like its clicking on and off several times before starting/stopping. The pump has been wired for 115v, connected to a 30amp breaker with 10-2 romex. The pump is primed and set 5psi over holding tank pressure. I found loose connections on the motor when setting the voltage to 115v. Ive tried contacting goulds several times this week asking for help but have gotten no response. Amazon will not refund me until after i return the pump, but no pump means no water so i can't remove the pump until i have a replacement. Hoping for help from seller, will correct my review when i receive help

I live one house down from the public water tank and my water pressure is 25 psi (maybe). This won't drive more than a two sprinklers. So I added the Gould J10S back in 1990's. It finally died a couple of weeks ago. So I ordered a new one and it hasn't changed on the exterior. Disconnected the old unit and replaced with the new and I'm back to 70 psi ! Great product, very sturdy, not cheap but you'll get the longevity. I have it outside unprotected. And it just runs.

The pump comes with the pressure switch on it. Ease of installation was great. pump performance is impressive. Ran for 1 minute and the whole system was charged to 50 psi including the new tank
