So far I have four of these ESCs on small 1/10 scale cars with NiMH batteries and 540 motors (two Tamiya Hornets, one Tamiya Frog, one small Traxxas truck). They all work fine so far. No failures, no weird anomalies. And using an ESC to replace an old mechanical speed control is sooo much more efficient that the battteries feel like they last forever. My only complaint is the jumper selection diagram in the instructions is upside down. It was driving me crazy until I looked at the jumper legend on the side of the unit itself - which is correct - and set it properly. Also, I don't use the same battery connectors as comes with it (I use Traxxas battery connectors), so on three of them I cut the plug off and soldered on the Traxxas connector. On the last one, I left it on but took the included adapter, unsoldered the other plug from the adapter and put the Traxxas plug on it.

If all you want is F/B its okay but the brakes on it do not work.

I am not so sure that price equals quality anymore. My first test of these was a 1/14th scale bulldozer and after a year, it is still going strong. No issues. For half the money of the name brand. I buy these in three different amp ratings and all have been excellent.

...however the driving mode/battery type nodes are reversed, so when i connected it to a 2S 1500mAh, the motor's capacitor popped in smoke (destroying it), the motor seized, and the esc smoked and died. granted it's cheap (not 'budget', not 'affordable', it's 'cheap') and as the saying goes, "buy cheap, buy twice", I recommend buying two just to see how the first will react to whatever setup you apply it to, because it WILL fail. there are multiple 'guidance' stickers on it, I personally don't trust any of them, one of them mentions that this ESC is 2S-3S, don't believe it. Again, it's very pretty looking, and will go great resting loosely on one of my 'shelf queens', but don't expect anything useful or safe out of it. As aforementioned, the initial power source plug-in could have easily resulted in a fire, had i not been predisposed to handling cheaply made products. I honestly can't get over how good it looks though. you've been warned that it will crap out on you relatively quickly in a potentially dangerous way though.

I had three of these fail within 2 weeks, from the same cause: ESC stopped responding to motor input. the lights indicate that it's receiving a signal but it never makes it to the motor as if the mosfet keeps burning out.also had some troubles with throttle trim, every once in awhile it would seem to reset and I'd have a runaway. trimming for drag break is an exercise in frustration, and before it failed that was unable to set the 12T motor for frictionless operation (permanent drag brake). Later edit: definitely confirm that if your drag break suddenly enables itself when you're in FBR mode, it's a sure indication this ESC will fail shortly. also don't change the battery apparently it doesn't like that. and while advertises having anti-runaway mode, I experienced multiple runaways with each unit. I ended up getting a genuine hobbywing quikrun 1060 for just a few dollars more, we'll see if it works any betterI noticed tiny sparks when attaching the ESC to the receiver we should not be happening, don't know if it's a design fault or what.
