I bought these for a printmaking class because I didn't want to deal with buying thicker plastic (polycarbonate) from the hardware store and having it cut to size. These are perfect - the price per sheet is comparable or better than the alternatives, and my results seem identical to those with heavier plastic. So far I've used them for monoprinting (the 3-pack is especially good for doing multi-plate color monoprints) and for drypoint etching. The plastic is softer than heavier plastic so I did find that traditional tarlatan cloth scratched my drypoint surface when rubbing off the ink; I ended up purchasing and using Akua's Wiping Cloth, which is specifically intended for PETG plastic. One additional benefit I've discovered is that these plates are easy to cut with an exacto knife or even sharp scissors, so you can cut a special size or even cut out a shape to make separate printing elements.

I’ve been wanting to try these for a while so when I caught them on sale, I was so excited. I’m sad to say they didn’t work at all how I expected. I watched video tutorials and didn’t get the same results. I’m just happy I didn’t pay full price or I would be more disappointed. I will keep playing with them to see how it goes. Print quality? I’d say not very good. I could not get the paint to come off the plate at all!

It is what it says it is. But as much as I love Grafix products, it is after all just a piece of thick plastic. I guess you could do monoprints with glass, too.

I don't know how the other reviewers had any printing success with these plates. I've been working happily with a Gelli plate for a couple of years, bought these so I could cut them to different sizes to work with different art journals. The paint does not come off the plate!! I've tried Golden fluid acrylics and 2 brands of heavy bodied acrylics. Either the plate just leaves almost no paint on the paper (I tried using several types & weights) or the paper becomes totally glued to the plate. My last attempt had to be scraped off. This isn't rocket science, I can't imagine what the problem is. If it's user error I'd love to know what I'm doing wrong as I'd really like to be able to use these plates.

It was advertized as having 3 monoprint plates in this package. But there were only 2 monoprint plates in the package when I opened it. Now what. I paid for 3, and only got 2. I'm not happy with that. Please tell me how I go about getting the 3 that I ordered.

Really for students/kids and beginners who don't know what an average result they will be getting.

I was hoping this would be like an inexpensive gelli plate… it was not

These printing plates are so easy to work with and allow for a fine and clear etching to be printed off.
