As an FCC-licensed, Ham Radio Operator (Amateur Radio), I've found this phone to be perfect for use as a mesh phone on AREDN. It's easy to install, set up, and use. It has near-perfect audio quality and is easy to access its built-in features via its web interface. A mesh phone is another great communications tool for Hams to use when normal communications systems are down or not available. The low price point of this phone makes it an all-around winner.

A basic 2-line phone that sets up fairly easily on a FreePBX system - which is what most PBXs are based on, even if they're not the free one. Read the user guide - which will explain the buttons in greater detail. Sound quality is excellent. One note for provisioning -- it's a pjSIP, not a chan-SIP. Made a mistake in setting it up in FreePBX with one of the lines going to a PBX extension defined as a chan-SIP. Changed it to pjSIP and that line connected like magic.Update almost two years later:Still very happy with this phone. It's important to not this isn't a Plug-n-Play idiot-proofed Joe Consumer device. It's made for installation with a real PBX and presumes whoever is installing it knows what they're doing with a PBX, its settings and configuring it and a VoIP phone for it. There are no guard rails to keep you from going over a cliff. Many SIP providers are using ULAW audio codec. Trying to force G.722 for HD can result in flaky operation with intermittent one-way audio (you can hear them but they cannot hear you) - as something in the path is attempting to transcode the G.722 to ULAW. One of the nuances in getting a personal PBX and VoIP working properly. Getting its firmware updated was a challenge as I'm a home user, not a medium or large business with server provisioning, etc. Did finally get it to go after fussing with a Windows TFTP server that could be started and stopped after the update occurred. Took some reading about how to do this on Grandstream's site and a little persistence. Fortunately, that's not something that occurs very often (it's actually rare). Phone does what it needs to do. I personally believe most problems are PBX configuration, not the phone. Also took some tweaks in FreePBX settings to get the voicemail and missed call flags working correctly with the PBX setting and clearing them. Overall I remain extremely pleased as it's a convenient two-line extension placed elsewhere in my home to prevent scrambling to get to the other one. It's extremely cost effective compared to other phones (e.g. Cisco, Polycom, etc.)

We tried the 8 Port Grandstream Analog FXS with our VoIP provider and their basic virtual PBX in their Cloud. It semi worked but basic features like transferring calls to another extension was a hit and miss most of the time. Decided to go with the full Grandstream Mini PBX and these Grandstream GXP1625 phones. Glad we did. Easy to use Features that just work and sound quality that is Top Notch. Plus 100's more features in the PBX system we won't use in a long time. Maybe when our business grows more we will need them.

This phone is not 100% compatible with the 3CX phone system we use. 3CX users who have a hosted phone system in the cloud this is not for you since STUN and SBC is not available. Am returning for an SNOM phone.

The quality of the product is excellent and setting it up to integrate with our VoIP provider was not too difficult, but took a bit of learning. The phone has a lot of capability which can be adjusted, set, or customized to meet a broad range of needs and VoIP provider requirements. Tech support is via an internet help desk functionality (24 X 7) which sometimes is challenging although there is a voice line help desk but with limited availability. It would have been helpful if there were more integrated help functionality especially with explaining some of the various settings / parameters in order to get the phone to integrate / function with the VoIP providers. Not much documentation comes with the phone - just the basic initial setup to get the phone initially connected to the internet, however there is a fairly good set of documentation (user guide, admin guide, etc.) available for download from the OEM.

Had to return it. No problem at all with the product. Simply, wife could not use it because the company she was to do business with, they could not set up the network because they were too busy. My wife got tired of waiting and cancel the business.

I use these in the office. It is great that it has an online interface. And many providers have just firmware you can download.I personally don't use the wall wart, but it does work with that if you don't have POE. But cleaner setup with just POE if you have it.Good phone, easy menu. Will definitely buy again

This is a great entry level IP phone. The negative reviews that say it's difficult to set up may not realize that this phone needs a SIP server or a system in place for it to work. I am using it with RasPBX (a FreePBX/Asterisk solution for the Raspberry Pi), and it is working perfectly straight out of the box with just the main SIP and network configuration needed. Its built in web configuration is also excellent and very straightforward and also has help tips provided as well. The IP address can be obtained right from the LCD with the press of a single button. For the price I was skeptical that the quality would be sufficient however it is definitely made with quality and the clarity is also very good. I will be looking to get more of these phones in the near future.

This phone was bought for use with TekTalk VoIP service from TekSavvy and having used it for one week so far, it works like a charm! It's nice and professional. There are only three cords to connect to the unit: headset (coil), RJ-45 and (if Power over Ethernet is unused) the included AC adapter. It's possible to add VoIP settings on only the device itself, but I prefer the web interface Once configured, it had a clear dial tone and clear voice quality during calls. It is just as good, if not better, than a traditional phone line. I only have two complains with the unit: the coil cord is too short (it does accept longer third-party ones) and the unit needs an object supporting it so it won't fall. Otherwise, I am very happy with this phone!

After using Skype with a Skype phone for some time, I was looking for an alternative. This phone combined with the Sipgate Basic package is a great option. This Grandstream device seems to be good value with all the essential features that you need. It needs to be placed near your router or powerline adapter as it will need to be plugged into it directly. It also has a speakerphone option and support for a headset and can be configured for two SIP accounts. Ideal for use in a home office where you need an extra line, but don't want to pay line rental. If you have previously used a Skype phone or something similar, then this is a great alternative.
