I got these thinking that I'd spend less time cleaning my grill grates and yes, they do that. But for those who cook vegetables or small protein items that would be prone to falling through the existing grill grate, these are perfect in preventing that. Note that they fit into most dishwashers so if you want to reuse it you certainly can.And there's one more thing. I like to sear beef either before or after cooking, and to do that I need to put it as close to the hot coals as possible. So, I cut one of these in half, bent the protruding wires in to hold both halves together, and it fits right on top of the hot coals and I can sear my steak on it without putting the meat onto the coals 'caveman style'. Probably not intended by the manufacturer, but great functionality.

I use these to place and transport a spatchcocked chicken to the grill or smoker and remove it whole. It provides a stable base and easy handling.it also helps keeping the grill grates relatively clean, or easier to clean, that if the chicken was placed directly on the grates.But the toppers are not very sturdy, and hard to clean after the cook. So for the price it easier to throw them away rather than trying to scrub a fairly thin and flimsy screen.Don't misunderstand me, the topper screen is good enough for moving a whole chicken and cooking on it for 3-4 hrs, but trying to scrub it and between the screen holes, isn't worth the trouble.It could possibly be reused if you use vegies or hotdogs (items that don't have much to stick on the grates).I will use them for anything that is relatively small like shrimp or vegies. besides transporting spatchcock chicken or maybe a roast.

Disposable? I'm not sure why you would want to dispose of these, especially after one use. When I think of disposable I think of aluminum foil pans and these are way beyond something of that nature.These grill grates will most definitely stand up to multiple uses. I plan on using them in my smoker to make burnt ends. After they are finished in the smoker, I plan on putting them into the dishwasher and reusing them again. I recently purchased some other racks for use in my smoker, that cost almost as much and are not any nicer for almost 75% of the price of these.I can also see how these would be easily used on top of a grill for vegetables or in an oven if you wanted too.In my opinion these grill grates are a tremendous purchase and with a bit of care, you should get quite a bit of use out of them.
