I bought the medium sized beanbag for a recent safari to Africa. To save weight in my luggage, I was able to get rice in the country I was traveling to. I recommend putting the rice, or whatever else you choose to use, in separate bags rather than just pouring it into the beanbag. I filled two bags with rice then stuffed them into the beanbag and they worked great. I was able to lay the beanbag on the rail of the Jeep and it gave me a sturdy, stable resting area for my camera. I would buy again!

This was perfect for our Tanzanian safari. Gave us the perfect, clean, and unabrasive spot to set my new dslr camera (a Nikon d3400)Pros: durable, lightweight (when empty), easy carry handles, fits easy on any bar, seat, branch less than 4 inches wide.Cons: I wish the zipper was at the bottom of one of the legs. It was a little hard to fill and empty but this is only a minor complaint.I'd recommend this to anyone thinking of some photography out of a car.

I purchased the bag just before we left on our African Safari and filled it with small styrofoam beads. Filling it was no easy chore, but using styrofoam beads ensured that I wasn’t carrying any extra weight in my duffle bag since we were limited to I used the bag during each of our 10 games drive in Kenya and Tanzania, and it provided the perfect platform for my Canon DSLR with a large 100-400mm Lens. The driver guide would stop the Toyota Land Cruiser when wild life was spotted and turn off the engine to eliminate any vibration. Then I jumped up and placed the bean bag on the top ledge of the vehicle and balanced my lens on the bag. The bag was flexible enough to allow me to easily reposition the lens and keep up with moving animals. Over and over I was able to achieve tack sharp focus on the animals. The beans did get a bit crushed from the weight of the lens, and the bag was no longer adequately stuffed. I hadn’t brought any extra beans with me, so I stuffed it with a pair of socks !

The product is well designed but the stitching is too flimsy. On the third day I used it the seam split open, spilling rice all over the safari vehicle. I had a travel sewing kit with me and did some surgery, which made it last the rest of the trip. But since the seams are guaranteed to undergo a lot of stress when it's filled with beans or rice and a heavy camera and lens are laid on top of it, the manufacturer should have anticipated this and sewn it with stronger thread. If you get this, take along a small sewing kit just in case.

As a wildlife photographer based in Wyoming, I have found the Grizzly Camera Bean Bag to be a useful tool during my photo safaris. Its compact and lightweight design makes it easy to carry and set up in the field, allowing me to capture steady shots without the need for bulky tripods. The bean bag provides a stable base for my camera and lens, helping to reduce vibrations and ensuring sharper images. Its versatility allows me to position my equipment on various surfaces, such as rocks or the roof of my vehicle, providing flexibility in different shooting scenarios. While it may not revolutionize the way I approach wildlife photography, the Grizzly Camera Bean Bag has proven to be a reliable and practical accessory that enhances my ability to capture those fleeting moments in nature.

I read that filling the bag was a pain but I didn’t think so. I did as the instructions said and poured the Grizzly pods in a box. Then used a tablespoon to fill. It takes time and patience but I was done in about 15 minutes. I used a fork to push the pods down into the bag which worked better than the spoon. It’s light and easy to carry and sits on the carWindow edge. I already used it on a few birds. Birds are happy and not spooked as well as I stay in the car. Price is good and does what I need.

Yes...I filled it up and took it on my road trip through Utah. No...it did not help at all in steadying my 600mm telephoto lens when shooting out of the car window. Use a little airplane headrest pillow instead.
