Amateur Woodworker. Wanted Cedar 3/4" plugs for an outdoor sofa instead of just a hardwood plug. Reading the reviews, seemed like most people were satisfied with these. Since the price was a little more than double than a single plug cutter, I figured I'd give them a try and get a whole set. Within a half hour of delivery, I cut 8 plugs and they are perfect. Smooth cut and snug in the 3/4" hole drilled with a forstner bit.

I've got a shop full of Grizzly Industrial tools. These cutters are sharp and pretty good, albeit the 7/8" bit broke on its first use. I'm pretty sure it was a manufacturing defect as it wobbled badly. (More on that below) Keep in mind that these are straight and "deep" cutters, so you can get a 2"+ tenon with them. But, that means that they are NOT tapered. If you want a tapered plug, this in the wrong style.Warranty Issues: Grizzly tools have a 1 year warranty. When I called Grizzly, they were more than willing to warranty it but didn't have any inventory that contained that bit. They referred me to the seller, Adventurer's Bag. Skipping the gory details, they finally said I had to return it through Amazon. They failed to mention that since it was past the 30 day return window, I had to CALL Amazon to accomplish that. Thankfully, Amazon was good about it. I'll replace these tools through the Grizzly.com website. It's $24 cheaper and their customer service has always been excellent.

I ordered it, not knowing if I would ever use this, but just a few weeks later I came across the situation where I needed a plug that would match the cherry wood that I was using. This was a perfect solution.

Very solid set of cutters. The wood box ws pretty flimsy, but I re-glued it and tightened it up all the away around with my 22ga pin nailer. Also gave the wood a coat of pure toung oil, and sprayed the cutters thoroughly with "Tri-Flow" which leaves a teflon coating when it dries. The cutters are sharp, very heavy and solid and for the money I think very well worth it.

The 7/8 bit broke the first time I used it. Grizzly would not replace it. I would not recommend buying anything from them.

I shuddered at needing to buy a whole set when I just needed the 7/8" cutter due to the price of other offerings for a single 7/8" but have since used a couple of other sizes. Easy to remove cut plugs from the bits and they fit tight in holes that each bit is sized for.

Already broke one after using it once, but the other one have worked as expectedhowever I was shocked when one broke after using it for a basic plug that I had to cut even though everything was done properly broke right at the connection which means my set is lacking now one of the ones that I need which is quite frustrating for a grizzly product I've had that experience in the past which makes me wonder if this is truly made by grizzly

This is the perfect kit. It has all the most important cutter you ever need.I only used it on soft wood yet but I am sure it will work on all others.They are well crafted and come in a wood box for safe keeping.
