Inexpensive felt washers protect the guitar from a tightened strap button. You have to make sure that you get the ones with the small hole so the hole is just large enough for the screw that attaches the strap button to the guitar. The washers with larger holes (usually rubber) are attached on either side of the strap. These are attached so that the strap slit does not open enough to detach from the guitar.

The black ones are not felt, they are foam! Not the same thing at all, foam has little density and is useless for this purpose. Product shipped is NOT as advertised.
