Cleans more aggressively than other tinning paste. Worked great for some really bad soldering iron tips.

I recently started making jewelry using soft solder (I am a metalsmith) and purchased a Hakko FX601 iron. It was a bit of an investment, but from all of my research it appears to be hands down the best (or at least tied with the Weller 100) for making jewelry for many reasons. Anyway, I also purchased a smaller tip, which was also more expensive than tips for other brands, but to be expected. As I started using the iron, I did everything the "experts" said I should to care for my tip. I read everything I could find and watched every YouTube video, especially ones from places like Weller. But after awhile I was having a really hard time getting the oxidation off of the tip and it wouldn't pick up solder. Then I stumbled onto something about this stuff. I had heard that regular tip tinners is corrosive and you should use it with care. When I read about this, it seems it does not have the corrosive ingredient. The reviews were good, the only bad ones were about the price, which again is to be expected. Well, bottom line is it works. I followed the instructions and went through the cleaning and tinning process 3 times I think it was and my tip was like new! These pictures are not from the original cleaning and do not do justice to the end result. The tin is tiny, yes, but I expect it's going to last for years, so it is definitely worth the money

I had previously struggled to keep my tips bright and conductive by using wire brushes and wet sponges. This stuff, while somewhat pricey for a VERY tiny tin, works instantly and perfectly every time. My observation is that my connections are brighter, with better flow and apparent adhesion. It keeps the tip bright for three or four solders and a quick wipe on the sponge double or triples that between redippings. And each dip uses a very small amount of cleaner, so I expect this little tin to last quite a while. And I will for sure buy again. While it's a small tin, it seems

Hello ladies and gentlemen I am an emergency room physician and have been for over 40 years and I am also a computer network engineer, I also hold an FCC electronic radio repair license, I can tell you I have used dozens of soldering iron tip retinning compounds that are largely used to remove the oxidation and carbon residue, and I can tell you I have tried dozens of other brands which were less than even slightly effective. Solder and tip retinning/cleaning compounds. I would give this brand an 11 out of a scale of 1 to 10. Invest the small amount of money and you will be amazed!!! At the job it does, in my opinion and many other PROFESSIONALS & similar ELECTRONIC REPAIR SERVICE PERSONNEL!! That I tried this brand AND IT IS second to NONE! I do not make a habit of reviewing products but I felt compelled after using this product! The only thing that could improve it would be a larger size, including an applicator brush! Best regards, oh one other thing like all solder and tip retaining compounds the fumes are toxic and can OUT OF DORMANCY cancer, do yourself a favor spend about $40 and buy a fume exhaust unit, they are available right here on Amazon believe me your health is worth it!! This is as close to magic as you can get.It restored a tip I could swear it was ruined. It now works better than it did when it was new.If you have a soldering iron from a reputable brand you can easily get new tips, even if you just don't want to bother restoring them to their former glory, however, if you have some obscure soldering iron/station with tips that don't seem to follow any standard, this paste may be your only chance to be able to still use that soldering iron as you may not be able to find replacement tips or they may not even be replacable.

Small package, but probably a lifetime supply for many hobbyists.High volume/Professional users will be disappointed with the product to price ratio. In the past I had always used a tinning pot full of solder. With this method, you heat the solder, then clean your tip, flux it generously and let it sit in the melted solder for about 30 sec. to 1 min. to effect a re-tin of the tip. This product is faster and easier than that method by a wide margin, the results are just as good too!

Yes it’s tiny; the tin it comes in is the size of a U.S. half-dollar coin but it works incredibly well. One quick dip is all it takes. I guess it will clean a hundred tips, probably even more. For tips you think are beyond help I would try this before I threw them away. Chances are this stuff will make that old, corroded tip look and work like it’s brand new.
