I got this to check my cats microchips and the neighborhood strays that we feed. It quickly and accurately read my 4 cats microchips that they all got within the last few years. This is perfect to check neighborhood cats to see if they're microchipped because it eliminates the need to try and trap them to take them to get checked at a vets office which would really stress them out.

I needed to check the microchips of my three cats so I ordered the product with hope that I wouldn't have to take them to the vet just to read the microchips and I was successful in all three. Simple to operate, the chip number (15 digits) appeared very fast and clearly and I did not encounter any problems. very pleased.

which is great when dealing with unruly critters. it does NOT, however, read AVID or 24PetWatch chips. it doesn't advertise being able to read the AVID, but I did expect 24PetWatch and was HOPING it might pick up on AVID since other reviewers claimed it did. going to purchase another with perhaps better success. if not, will order a much more expensive reader since it's so important to be able to capture chips up to 20 yrs old. deserves the 5 stars for doing exactly what it advertises.

my pets have a 10 and a 15 digit code and it works on both. easy, fast, and reliable. great price for peace of mind.

Wanted to use this for TNR/rescue projects and tested out on personal pets and friends’ pets whom I know have chips and it didnt find any of the homeagain chips (10 in total). Worked fine on the new in package but not implanted FiNano chip but that was it. Returned.

I really like how this scanner fits in your hand. It is also small enough that it is non-threatening to whatever you are scanning. I love that it reads all chips. For the price, it is a steal.

It will scan almost all types of microchips. I know, because I tried it on more than two types of chips. It doesn't need batteries because it already has one inside and it's rechargeable. It's so handy when you get a dog or cat that comes over needing help.

This scanner does what it's supposed to with little fuss. I compared it directly with one of the cheaper scanners that an associate ordered from Amazon and the big usability difference is the display. On the cheaper one, the numbers were very small and a little hard to read and the overall unit is MUCH smaller than the Halo. The Halo uses a LCD screen with much larger characters, so reading it is much easier.When I ordered the Halo, the product package was a little aged. There was none of the plastic overwrap you would expect on a new product and the scanner itself was just loose in the box, no other packaging. The scanner itself has many light scratches and scuffs which don't affect its usability, it's just obviously used. If there was any doubt that it wasn't "factory fresh", the fact that it had a whole bunch of scanned IDs already in memory would make it obvious. I didn't try to exchange it for a new one because I needed it immediately and it doesn't really matter. It would be scuffed and scratched in a few weeks anyway.I didn't take off any ratings for it not being a new item because the review is for the product, not the seller.
