This handle has a tight foam gasket to mate with the hammer head. I had other plans for this, but got looking at a sledge hammer head I've had laying around. You know how you get a silly idea and then it just won't leave you alone? Yea, anyways, the head fit the handle so perfectly I went ahead and wire wheeled the head, clamped the handle vertical, and the foam had the gap so perfectly sealed! After the epoxy set up I have a single jack with a 10 pound head! It's awesome, if not usually very useful. But that's no fault of the handle; it works perfectly!

This replaced a cracked wooden handle. Easily installed and feel great when using.

The handle is fine for the 3-pound head I put on it. I would have given it four stars except for the strip of putty they provide to seal the epoxy in while it dries. That stuff never works well and gets leaks. I always put caulk or general purpose glue in its place and let that dry overnight before I pour the epoxy in the next day. Works much better.

This handle was used to replace a wooden handle that had gone by the wayside some time ago. The installation was easy, I had to do very little shaping to get it to fit straight and true. The handle was installed on an antique railroad spike driving hammer and tie splitting hammer about 4# in weight. The hammer originally would have had a handle that was about 30 to 36 inches in length but for use these days I found this handle to be better. It came with the epoxy to glue it in place which set up in 24 hours. The hammer was hand forged when it was made so the hole in it was not perfect like modern hammers but with a little work it fit perfectly straight in the hammer head. The only thing that I did not care for was the time in getting it and the extra charge for freight even with my Prime account. I was not in a hurry so the time did not matter too much but the freight to get it here was in MHO a bit too much.Overall a good purchase and installation.

Replaced a broken wooden hatchet handle - this will be much better. The application of the epoxy is very messy, even when done as the instructions indicate, but with a bit of care - and sometimes an additional application of epoxy - the results are great. I have no fear of the hatchet handle breaking as did the wooden one...

I looked at just buying a new cross peen hammer but the idea of throwing a perfectly good hammer just knags at me. I cleaned up the head, cut and sanded the new handle a bit to fit perfectly and used the accompanying epoxy to set the handle. Masked the cleaned head and painted it and now I have a really nice split peen hammer that when I brandish it at vehicles and equipment they immediately surrender.

Had to use a little of my own epoxy to fill it up.
