This diverter valve replaced a messy splitter and a separate shower connector, so it looks compact on the wall, even though it is a large, sturdy piece of metal. Installation is easy, but you may need an extra washer or two -- save the ones in the splitter you may be replacing (like most of these, sometimes 2 washers are needed on a single fitting, depending on the length of the threads on your connectors. Test each step of the installation for leaks. Everything screws by hand on standard fittings, but an adjustable pipe wrench and a small piece of cloth (so the wrench does not scratch the chrome) are handy especially to tighten the unit firmly to the pipe coming out of the wall. The unit swivels where it needs to so you can set it horizontal as in the photo. There are two tiny Phillips head screws on top in this position that you tighten so the swivel becomes fixed, you'll need a small Phillips head screwdriver to do that. You should cover the shower drain in case you drop one of the tiny screws, (even though it comes with 2 extras - I've done dumber things than drop 3 screws before). Took me maybe 45 minutes, I am not a handyman. The one small complaint I have is that one of the fittings on the unit is angled about 45 degrees into the shower - so the hose, once attached, drapes toward the center of the shower and in my small shower I am going to bump into it some. Might be a way for me to creatively angle it out of the way, will think on it some more. But overall, this is a heavy, solid unit, beautiful, well made, the dial has a solid feel to it, clicks into 4 positions, 2 of which divert water to both attachments, 2 to only one of the attachments. Most of all the water flow is amazing compared to the old shower. Might exceed the flow limits for some city water systems, but I am on a well in an area that gets 40 inches of rain annually. Loving it -- worth the extra cost and then some -- nothing better than a refreshing shower. Think I'll head back in there after writing this.

Matches our existing Oil Rubbed Bronze Fixtures, works well with the handheld shower sprayer we bought for our guest bath and allowed us to keep our current shower head we weren't ready to get rid of just yet (but when we do you can bet we will return and buy them from Hammer Head!) There is nothing cheap or plastic anywhere on the diverter or handheld shower sprayer we purchased. We wish you made bath and sink faucets as well as the shower water handles. I'd have every Moen everything yanked out of my 6 year old home and replaced with quality products. Anyway, this allows you to have a regular shower head as well as mount and hand a handheld off to the side and change the water flow back and forth between the two. We wanted a handheld to bathe our puppy in an exrta guest bath where we installed a stand up tub to bathe our yorkie, but it also makes it so easy to clean the ceramic tile shower enclosure as well as the regular tub. I like this setup so much, am going to buy an extra handheld and another one of these for the master shower so I can quickly get the shampoo out of my hair.

Install was straight forward. Had a leak at shower head attachment that was fixed by removing the flow reducing screen in the shower head and replacing with one of the rubber washers supplied. Turned the fittings to place the hand wand outlet on bottom. Would buy again.

A SMALL LEAK BETWEEN THE SHOWER SELECTOR AND THE BODY OF THE SPLITER. IT GOES STRAIGHT DOWN AND DOESN'T SPRAY SO I CAN LIVE WITH IT.
