The main reason I wanted this was to help balance the airflow in some residential hvac systems. It's nice because you can actually see a number instead of guessing what is coming out of each vent. It's also nice because you actually have something physical that you can show the homeowner. I'm still using the original battery after a few months. This has done exactly what I wanted, and it is a good value for what you get.

This review is for DA6252A Digital Anemometer - Accurate Wind Speed and Volume Measurement, Max/Min Records, Area Setting, Unit Switching, Data Hold Function, Suitable for Meteorology,HVAC Systems, and More. This is a good budget meter for measuring wind speed, if you can get it at a reasonable price. $50 is way too much. It should be half that. The meter also oddly uses a 9V battery. It needs to either use a rechargeable battery or something more common like AA or AAA. But it does give you a decent wind reading if that is all you need.

This is a generic meter. It is the exact same meter someone else sells for less than half the price. It’s ancient 9V tech too.The build quality is just average and it’s too big to a practical shooting meter. And it’s not sensitive enough. This is sized for hvac usage but I can find no CFM settings. If you still want it, you can find the identical meter for much less.

This interesting instrument measures multiple air movement parameters using different standards (kilometers, miles, or cubic feet per minute) depending on your needs. It does measure miles per hour wind speed, but the manual calls it ‘mil/hr’. The manual is written in English; in some places, it is difficult or impossible to interpret or, at best, quite awkward. While the manual suggests the unit should be recalibrated every year, there is no guide or suggestion on calibrating it. It should be noted that meteorologists require wind speed to be measured at least 10 m (33 ft) above the ground and at least 3 meters above the supporting structure (a roof or other large structure). A handheld unit held near the ground or near the water will give much lower wind speeds than the ‘official’ measurements taken by instruments that are 10 m (or more) above the ground. This can be a helpful instrument if that information is taken into account. It is also useful for determining the volume of air exiting a vent to adjust a heating/cooling (HVAC) system to achieve maximum comfort in a house.

I bought this to monitor HVAC unit health around the house and in my vehicles. It does well for those applications and you can get a CFM reading if you enter in some information about your duct size. I am really just looking at relative changes so ft/sec or mph work fine. The build quality is low to mid range.... similar to electronics you'd find at Harbor Freight if you're familiar with those. It comes with a case to keep it protected. I found that the device is easy to accidentally turn on because the buttons are on the front and can get bumped in the case. It would have been nice to have a concealed or protected dedicated power button to avoid accidentally turning it on and draining the battery. As other reviewers have mentioned, for almost $50 this device should at a minimum run on AA batteries but really should be rechargeable. I was very disappointed to find out it runs on 9V batteries.I'm giving this 3 starts because it should be better for the price they're charging.

A must have if you target practice and close or laong distances. Accurate with a large display to easily read a wealth of information the anemometer. The display is also backlit so you're good to go 24/7. Comes with a nice storage/carry case.

Compact, handheld device seemed to work well out of the box, but I only guess at its accuracy. It'll be good enough for the estimates I need for some wildlife surveys in the field. And it's easy to carry due to its relatively small size and light weight. It has a very thin case to put it in, which will offer minimal protection as it rides in my backpack. Manual is a bit difficult to interpret. I'll have to find a way to check it for accuracy and update the review. Units are weird (mil/h instead of mph).If it lasts for five years or so, the 47 USD cost is reasonable.
