Bought this tool to remove creeping weeds (clover, creeping Charlie, oxalic, etc.) from my lawn.First thing I noticed is that it's the most amazing de-thatching tool -- all the while bringing all the tentacles of weeds out of lawn for easy removal. Smooth surface of prongs allows quick removal of thatch with a flick of wrist into bucket.Superbly designed tool appears to be very well made.

This tool has outlasted a few other larger versions. It has held up really well on my mountainside of a backyard. The many rocks are no match for this little guy. Am tempted to buy a second one and strap them both on Wolverine style when I go to weed the truly over grown portions of my yard.

Love it so far. Hope it doesn't break as another reviewer experienced. I bought this during the winter, just tried it out today. Great as a mini rake for pulling woodchips back over a newly planted tree. Also good for mixing compost into the normal soil before inserting the bagged tree root ball. The tines spread out fairly wide and so are very efficient. The ends are sharpish, which helps when mixing hard compacted soil in with the mulch. Glad I bought it.UPDATE: Months later, this is my favorite hand tool for gardening, and I have a few expensive gardening tools. I find lots of uses for it beyond why I bought it. I'm thinking of buying a 2nd one so I have one in each hand when picking up and spreading great globs of mulch. I can be Edward Scissorhands. It's great for digging hard soil around tough weeds such as thistle so you can get a better grip on the root. I use it for digging holes for planting tree seedlings as it's more efficient than my expensive all steel trowels, and doesn't compact the soil around the edges of the hole. The one downside is that the tool blends in with the surroundings, and I keep misplacing it. It would be a wicked thing to step on accidentally, which I have come close to doing several times. I'll have to paint the handle a nice bright yellow so I don't lose it altogether.UPDATE: 'well it happened. Buying 2 more of these 'cause I did indeed lose the first one. Hope it's not on the ground somewhere where I - or the deer -- might step on it. The tines are wicked. This time I will dip the handles in a bright color paint. Other than that, this has been the bomb. I wish Joy Mangano would get a version of this marketed with a long handle and a wider set of tines to be used in a standing position. It would be perfect for spreading huge amounts of mulch - a 5-acre project I'm currently facing. I gather from other reviews that the manufacturer has a little qc problem, but the preferred Dewitt brand costs 3 times as much as this one, at least on Amazon. I'll take my chances on the Asano brand again since the one I had held up to some heavy digging as well as raking, and I have hard clay/gravel substrate here. It is also very comfortable to hold onto.

It works great and covers a wide area but the tongs can easily be a danger to anything. I 3D printed a cover that slips on all of the prongs for protection when stored.

Well made, easy to use. This type of claw rake is faster and more efficient than your typical garden hand tools.... The bare wood handle just needs some linseed oil rub and you have the perfect simple hand tool that cultivates and breaks up soil, removes weeds, etc.,

Un bon outil solide et bien fini, qui vaut son prix.Je l’utilise poir arracher du foin a une grosse balle, agin de nourrir mes chèvres. J’avais peur que les griffes se tordent mais non c’est du costaud qui peut tenir très longtemps.

It looks so small and innocent but is lethal to weeds. I have a gravel drive, whose foundation is a very old tatty undulating weed infested tarmac drive. I have been hand pulling or pouring salt on the weeds for years. After using this tool, oh what a difference! It scoops down under the stones to the tarmac, with very little effort (lady pensioner) and hauls up great clods of weed roots along with the leaf compost that had formed between the (middle sized) stones. Now I see why my hand pulling was so inefficient, mostly the weeds broke off as I pulled, though sometimes I'd get little clods. This tool is AMAZING! Once used you will never go back, it is very light and comfortable to hold, and very sturdy, I expect to be using it for many years to come. My other half suggested a long handle would help, but I don't think so. You have to be able to pick up said weed clods into tub trug/bag next to you, (do clear as you go along, as there is a surprising amount to dispose of). Mind your knees and back though, TAKE IT EASY when you first use it. Two days later I still have bad back ache, BUT it was so rewarding, I couldn't stop. I did a third of the drive in one go! Now I will pace myself and do a couple of square yards at a time until finished. I know new weeds will appear, but as so many roots are now gone, I do believe the drive will stay in much cleaner condition from now on. BUY ONE!!! I love it, and comes extremely highly recommended!!! You know how there are some gadgets/tools that you realise you would never be without again? This is one of them. Enjoy :)

Extremely well made. Does the job brilliantly. Used to loosen the soil where prickles and weeds have been removed. to sow new grass seed. and to loosen up topsoil around trees and shrubs that need a feed.An extension pole would be good and will be making one up with an old broom stick and some automotive hose clamps. The word Ninja in the description is appropriate. Its a weapon in the garden.
