I wanted a coffee maker that's even simpler than everything else I already had (V60, aeropress, clever). The Mugen lives up.I can use any kettle. Pour carefully in circles, give it a quick swirl, and walk away; no preheat needed with medium roast. To clean, toss the filter an just rinse the cone in the sink. With all other brewers, you have to time things, either infusion time or pours.In terms of recipe, I don't follow their recommendation and instead I do the same 1 cup recipe I always do: 15g of coffee to 250g of water, grind size slightly finer than V60. Tastes delicious and pretty close to my V60.The only downside is that it is best suited for single brews. 24g of coffee takes forever to brew and does taste muted from declining water temperature. I will continue to brew 30/500g with the regular v60 02.

As with all Hario products, value is excellent. The Mugen is no exception. Easy to use and durable. I like this recipe best for light and medium roasts: 16.5g coffee, 225ml water 93-96 degrees. Pour water at a steady rate until you reach 225ml at 40 seconds. Let drain and you're done. Makes a consistent tasty cup of coffee. Enjoy!

This dripper is super consistent. It makes awesome coffee every time with ease. Material and build quality are top notchThis one is compatible with V60 #2 filters

This is one of the easiest ways to enjoy quality pour over due to its one pour design. Results may still be customized by grind size and water temperture. The plastic version is very fragile. A fall of 3+ feet broke it in two after a month of use. The ceramic version is likely even more fragile.

as the title says: with the mugen I've experienced slower drawdowns and more chocolaty cups with most medium to darker roasts.I don't quite get my favorite results with super light roasts, but a lot of the roasters local to me roast way darker than I typically prefer. as such I found a lot of success with this as I found it to produce better and more consistent cups with those coffees.I didn't do any extensive testing or fancy refractometry but I definitely liked what I got in the cup.Like a lot of people I bought one to swap it into the Hario Switch base, don't do that, the heat retention isn't worth the slower drawdown for steep and release.

I have a Chemex, a Melitta, and a Melitta-style filter holder. Thought I'd try Hario. Compared with the other three, this brings out the bitterness in the coffee. I tried different grinds and different coffees. It could be because it's much slower than the others. Instead of having three holes and a flat bottomed filter like Melitta or a wider base like Chemex filters, the Hario filter comes to a sharp point and slows the extraction. I thought it was the coffee but no matter which coffee I use, it's unbearably bitter.

I'm no Coffee Genius but I made a smart purchase here.There are several variables to a tasty cup of coffee and this simplifies one or two of them. It's dialed in and I love it.

Better than most, but original V60 is the best. The coffee maker is certainly easiest to use, but the flavor is a rather 1 note taste, while the original V60 produces a more complex coffee flavor.If you are wanting a no brainer coffee maker this is great, but if you expect the best stick with the original V60 versions. I had the original, but switched to the more elegant looking decanter version. Top notch coffee!

Bem método de coado. Similar ao Hario V60 tradicional entretanto, muda um pouco o resultado na extração (parece que requer menos técnica nos ataques). Boa opção pra variar um pouco o resultado na xÃcara em relação ao V60 tradicional.

I bought this to use with a Hario Switch base. Note the Hario switch base is not part of this - that is a separate device and purchase.Having done that, the combo has become my daily coffee making favourite. It produces a great cup with little fuss or cost.Because of the design - no ridges - this is a little different to the V60. In principle this would let less water escape down the sides of the filter - less "bypass" and therefore more efficient brewing. Whether that's accurate or not I don't know, but when matched with the switch base to allow control of immersion Vs percolation, it gives a nice way of adjusting brew balance between sharp and acidic percolation and the more deep and smooth immersion brew.With mugen and the switch base it allows us to blend both of these styles in a single process and cup.But even without worrying about the above, this brewer seems to make a drinkable cup from almost any bean and grinder choice.As usual from Hario it is well made for a plastic device and of course inexpensive. As it happens that's one thing I'd like to see - a metal version so it's easier to pack in travel luggage with risk of breaking.
