Fantastic solution to reduce Hay waist. I just cut off the side straps and kept the end handles.

This portable hay bale bag is a handy item to have around if you’re spending time on the road or camping with your horse. It easily fit a full 55lb bale of orchard alfalfa with room to spare. I believe a 70lb bale would fit the space nicely, while a 100lb would be over the length, however there is a gap to the top of the webbing that suggests you could pull a few flakes off and lay them on top then zip it up if you want as much hay in there as possible. The double zippers are sturdy and should hold up to use, while being small and out of the way enough to avoid curious horses mouthing them.I have a hay box I use for my three mini ponies, so I gave the bale bag to them to try out over the course of using up a hay bale. They can pull out more hay than a slow feed hay net, so if you have a horse who needs to eat more it’s great for them. Mine didn’t make a mess, but the bag did keep a good fluff of hay on the top.The handles are in good places for lugging it around and manage the weight well. The top zipper for the cover easily closes to contain all the contents should you need to move it or protect it from rain. The flap can be a little odd with nothing to secure it with, but I use the handles of the bag to anchor it so the flap never bothered me. It’s a good purchase for both hay storage as well as on-the-go feeding.

I picked-up the “Hay Bale Bag, 44x18x22inch Extra Large Hay Bag with Top Slow Feed Design for Horses Goats Sheep Donkey,Premium Oxford Heavy Duty Hay Bale Storage Bag for Barn Stable (Black)” to keep things neat in my truck and to feed horses. I do not own horses but, we feed bales of hay to the abundance of wild horses that roam around our property. We also use it as bedding for our dog kennel, for when our dogs care to lounge outside. When we transport hay, it’s rather messy, and I thought this bag could help us to keep the truck more tidy—as well as, slow the feed; some horses seem to be more commanding of who eats first, or at all. This is a very nice Storage Bag! It’s very spacious, and it’s heavy-duty. It zips closed on 3-sides, and it has tether-type carry straps. Inside the vented Bag, there is a tether-type mesh, which is used to slow down eating. The Bag is crafted using a high-strength Oxford Cloth, which means it’s very durable, and this makes it a challenge for animals to chew-through. The Bag can be wiped clean, as needed. This built-to-last Bag is huge! It can accommodate 2 to 3 rectangular bales of hay, as it is 44” wide / side-to-side, 23” tall / top-to-bottom, and it’s 18” deep / front-to-back.This is the very first time I’ve purchased a Hay Bale Bag but, it’s something that I’ve been considering for quite some time. I’m excited to finally have one (one, for now … more to come). I’m very pleased with this item and my purchase!

While I grew up on a farm, I now live in the suburbs and don't have cows or sheep or goats to use this bag with. However, we do have a lot of items we move from one property to another so we thought we'd try this bag out as a solution - and I think it works great! It's a very large bag with two zippered flaps - one is the large mesh opening, and the other is the "lid" that closes the bag off. It looks weatherproof - or at least weather resisitant so that if you have it zipped up and it's raining, I don't think your items will get very wet. I tried it out with a set of 7 boxes we had to move to a project and it was very easy to load (since it's so large) and it was easy to zip up and pick up and over my shoulder. This sample of boxes weighed about 50 pounds, but the bag didn't feel like it was stressed at all. So very well stitched and made out of a good material. The bag is also lined so that if something does spill, it should be retained in the bag itself. Also welcome were the end handles so that two people can pick a bag up and load it in the back of your truck or car. So, this is a very handy bag for larger bulky items that you want to gather together and haul off somewhere. And it can feed your livestock if you have them. But we're happy to have the bag and will put it to good use on our many projects. Highly recommended!

Where has this been my whole life?! I had something similar to this rigged out of a plastic tub, a full bale hay net, and tow straps, but this is soooo much better than that and way easier to use and store.During feeding time recently, a blizzard that hadn't been forecast hit with whiteout conditions and extreme wind chills. Instead of taking down and refilling my hay nets, I just stuck a full square bale in this, cut off the strings, zipped up the grid section, and put it into the shelter. The horse and donkey stayed inside happily eating hay from this bag for hours while the wind raged, with plenty of hay left the next day. It was quick and easy to use, got me inside out of the weather fast, and I didn't have to fumble with hay nets with frozen fingers. The bag collapses as the hay is eaten, so the hay is never out of reach for the animals. It does seem to have more wastage than a slow feed net, but it's so convenient, I don't mind that at all. Also, in wind, if it's empty, it's light enough where it could get blown around, so you might want to secure it to something. Just something to be aware of. But once again, who cares? It's great in every other way. This would also be nice for taking some hay along on road trips. Or if the truck is broken down, you could put a bale in your car without making a mess. The cover can be zipped fully closed to protect it, and the carrying straps make lugging the hay around so much easier.I really can't recommend this enough for horse and livestock folks. I'm planning on buying a second one soon.
