My wife lost her sense of smell. We have a wood burner and this alarm will go off if the stove starts to go close to the red line. I placed it behind the stove about 10-12†from the pipe. It works very well and I am impressed. Can’t recommend more.

Battery is removeable on the two detectors received. The base locks on permanently unless you break off the little tab on the base before attaching to detector. That is what makes the battery impossible to replace the base won’t unlock u mess you break off the tab beforehand.. I tested both units using a hairdryer and both sounded as expected. Won’t be able to rate battery life until time passes.

Bought two of them. Installed easily enough. But one of them was giving a low battery chirping warning right from the start so had to buy new batteries.

Installation was a bit tedious as I wanted to get the indicator light to be visible and I had to work from a ladder. The item is very lightweight and there is no need to worry about the screws and drywall holding it in place.
