I'm using this for downspout defrosting on my home. It heats up quickly and has never caused any issues. Be aware this cannot easily be moved around or plugged into the well, it must be hardwired into your breaker panel. Otherwise, good stuff!

I ordered this cable thinking it would be easy to install. I want to build a tiny house inside a van and put the heating cable on the roof to keep snow from accumulating in the winter. However, I didn't realize how complicated such an installation can be, not until I watched several YouTube videos on how to do it.Actually, it all seems easy enough except that there's no explanation (that I can find) on regulating how much electricity travels through the cables. I was planning on hooking the cable to a three pronged plug, and since many cables are fit for 3 or 5 or 7 watts, I thought a three pronged plug would do the job. And, it's possible it would do the job, but now I'm not certain and I don't want to experiment with electronics (unlike Eddie Van Halen and his Frankenstrat experiement). So, I apologize to the company selling these cables. At the moment I'm not qualified to comment on the cable I ordered. It might be exceptional, but I don't know. Please forgive me.I wasn't going to rate this product with any stars at but Amazon won't allow me to post my view without choosing a rating of some kind. And, since the cable could be exceptional, I chose 5 stars. I didn't want to choose one star or three if that under values the product. Besides, anyone who reads this posting will understand the circumstances here.
