The product works great unless the spliced section comes in contact with water (often because that's what melting ice results in). The seller should sell, imho, products in known lengths without splices that can cause faults.

Great product, but mounting hardware should be included.

Exactly as described but make sure you have the proper holders to fit the wire. The wire is wide.

Seems like it’ll work to stop ice dams on the roof

had to purchase clip separately. Not to bad to put up once I got the clips. Now it is cold out and went to test it and no heat on the heat tape. My neighbors is working perfectly. Mine is not. What a hassle to have to potentially take this down in the cold and find a better brand that works. Would call for a refund, but who has the time for that. Find a local USA Company.

I attached the cable a few weeks ago to the edge of the garage roof and in the join to the house where a valley exists. It looks good and I hope is going to do the job if we ever get snow again in Tezas. I recommend that you don't allow the cable to twist and if you use the shingle clips you may find the edges if the shingles to be a bit fragile and bonded to the layer below. Take time to separate them.

I am using this to manage ice build-up on my sidewalk and it works really well. Have been using it for two seasons now without any issue. It is connected to a timer which runs for about an hour in the morning and late afternoon which is enough to melt a draining path through the ice to allow for proper water run-off, thus preventing future ice built up. When snaked across the ice patch on the walk, it also makes chipping the thick layers of ice away a lot easier.

I bought this cable in September and installed it on the roof where we always get ice dams. We plugged it in and to test it and it seemed to work, but it was September. We didn't start to get any winter weather until Christmas and plugged the heated cable back in, and that's when the problems started. After being plugged in for 30 seconds or so it would trip the breaker. We ended up paying an electrician to check our panel and he said that the panel and breaker were fine and that the heated cable was defective. I contacted customer service and because its passed the 30 day return window that there is nothing they can do. I ended up speaking to a Customer Service Manager who also told me that Amazon valued me as a customer but could not help me, even after I tried to explain that you buy and install this product in good weather to be used in the winter, and a 30 day return policy is a scam for the manufacture to unload its defective products. If, I bought this from Canadian Tire or Home Depot I wouldn't have any trouble returning it. If Amazon told the Manufacture to extend the return policy or they wouldn't sell there product they would do it, but they don't even respond to me. So don't tell me there is nothing you could do. You suck!

Last year we had a massive ice dam which caused a drywall problem inside the house. It was a real mess. Very shortly after I had added the heat tape this year, the ice and snow, which had already backed up this winter, all melted and disappeared. I might note that our gutter was frozen solid as well, so I ran some of the cable through the gutter, and it too has melted. Very happy with this heat tape!
