These are very heavy duty, and they worked great for compressing springs on a couple different motorcycle shocks; an '03 1200 Suzuki Bandit and a '07 Hayabusa. These springs have very little room between the coils for clamps to get into, but this tool did the job. I wrapped the contact points on the springs with electrical tape, and they didn't cause any marring of the finish on new springs. They are a little ungainly to work with if you don't have anything holding the shock itself, it's helpful to have two people to get them into place and hold them there until there is tension on the spring. There isn't much distance between the body of the tool and the clamps either, you have to be mindful the tool doesn't rub your shock/spring.With care and patience they work great, they easily stand up to the spring load and the fine thread of the adjusters makes it easy to turn them in small increments. I don't foresee ever needing any other spring compressor tool again.

Like any suspension tool or jacking tool, disassemble, grease the tool threads and thrust bearing. These work fantastic. They are bone dry from the factory. Pull the jack screw and thrust bearing. Pack the thrust bearing with grease, then grease the jack screw threads and tool slides. I used Lucas red and tacky. I see a lot of reviews of "failed threads". Grease your tools guys!!!

Needed a spring compressor to work on a motorcycle rear spring. Worked great. Good quality. Seems heavy duty.

I love these! Wayyy easier to use than one you rent from a parts house! I rented a set, it took a LONG time to get my coil spring to compress and when I finally installed the upper mount, there wasn't enough space between the coils to remove it! I saw and purchased these because I saw the jaws were slim enough to fit. I was finally able to remove the crappy parts house rented ones; I used these on the other side from the start-man, they were soo easy to compress and install the upper mount. What took me the better part of a WHOLE DAY messing with loaner tools, I was able to do in minutes!

This is an excellent spring compressor that I stumbled opon after receiving the wrong item after ordering the Shakly brand compressor. I bought these and they arrived next day! Used on Rav4 front struts and will be using it next week to put heavier Eibach springs on my new 2022 4 Runner TDR Pro suspension to give it more lift. After using these on our Rav4 I have total faith that these compressors will handle the 4 Runner job. I did take these apart as soon as I got them and painted the threads with antiseize. I have only used these with a 17ml rachet wrench tightning the two evenly side to side. Do not use an impact or any power tool on these compressors. Take your time and work smart with these and I'm sure you'll be fine. Just becareful as bad things can happen when you put tons of pressure on huge heavy duty car and truck springs using cheap rinky dink spring compressors with power tools!

I ordered for my UTV shock springs as advertised but, would fit as planned. Well built.

So I got these because the much safer and robust version I had would not fit into the space where my front springs were on my vehicle and while they certainly fit in there, they have absolutely no means by which to prevent rotation (self loosening) beyond that of the springs reactive force…the hooks also do not have any sort of “tilt†to them to compensate for the spring helix so they set slightly angled from center axis, tho most of these compressors do that as well. As I was removing the spring, these both slipped off as I had a few gloved fingers in the “danger zone†and when they went the spring instantaneously expanded and contracted within the timeframe of less than a tenth of a second. Before I could peel the gloves off they were full of blood & I am currently re-growing the nail on my left ring finger cuz it fell off a few days after the incident…and it’s gnarly lookin!NOW, I was partially at fault here for not thinking about this more carefully ahead of time and taking some safety measures beyond that of wearing some gloves that did absolutely nothing…And I did end up having to use these to get the springs off (once healed enough to try round two) because they were the only ones that fit under the spring/strut tower flange, but I also added one of the beefier compressors I had which had retention pins built into the “hooks†and I HIGHLY recommend adding something like this if you must use these compressors because they will fail on you if not perfectly placed. My point is, BE CAREFUL WITH THESE IF YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST USE THEM.
