About this item

  • STURDY CONSTRUCTION: ARUCMIN Heavy Duty Spring Compressor Tools have wide jaws with an adjustable bracket that ensures stable parallel compression. Each pair of spring compressor tools can handle loads up to 2645 lbs (1200 kg).
  • VERSATILE USE: Fits most cars, motorcycles, ATVs, trucks and other large vehicles. The strut spring compressor accommodates springs from 2.7-10.6 inches (70-270 mm) and the adjustable bracket fits coils from 8.3-12.2 inches (210-310 mm) in diameter.
  • EXCELLENT AND DURABLE MATERIAL: Our spring compressor tool automotive is made of heat-treated 45# carbon steel for strength and durability. High-quality galvanized finish prevents corrosion and rust and lasts longer.
  • SAFETY & RELIABILITY:The trut spring compressor tool hook claw combined with precision threads grips securely and prevents the spring from accidentally coming loose under load. Ensures safety in use. Springs, shocks, struts and spacers can be safely removed or installed.
  • EASY TO USE:By turning the hexagonal nut at the bottom, the spring compressor tool tightens its grip on the spring. Comes with a portable storage case, more convenient to store and carry the tool.

I really like this set of compressors. Design is a lot different from my old school craftsman set, and has an additional safety bracket. My big fear is the strength of the jaws, not something I would want to find out while using. Luckily I am using these more for coilovers, to compress the springs just enough to take load off the top collar when doing maintenance. I currently had a seized collar and couldn't get it free off the spring preload. If ever changing shocks on a stock macpherson strut, I will definitely take my time to ensure the jaws can handle the spring rates before taking off any top hats. Product build out the box, all parts spin smooth and easily when adjusting the length. Threads look pretty dry so I think adding a little bit of grease will help with the friction against threads when tightening under load. Other than that it looks to be a very solid compressor, and so far has held up well on my personal use of it.

Tool worked well and did the job. Good quality and better than the tool you would rent from auto parts.

The macpherson strut spring compressor by Arucmin/Lodge Tools is made in PRC (china). The case for this tool has a bendy plastic flap for a hinge that I do not consider durable. The tool itself works, but is not as durable as my old compressor. This tool represents the $50 price range well. I feel that this too is more of the minimum needed to perform a spring compression. This does work, but I recommend in a light duty role. I don't think this tool is durable enough for regular use.4 stars

Once you understand how to use this tool on the coil compression, you start to quickly realize that the engineers designed it with safety in mind.I actually think it's better quality than some other ones I've rented from the auto parts store. They are definitely built tough as well with good quality steel.

My first impression was "man, this thing looks overly complicated!" I have used MANY sets of loan-a-tool spring compressors from the various auto parts stores, some better than others. One thing those have in common is they make you think about how many teeth you are going to lose if that compressor slips just a bit more down the spring. While it seems complicated at first, there is a reason for it. This spring compressor adds a lot of nice safety features that should go a long way from you getting your "summer teeth". There is a clam shell design on each end that captures the spring, plus there is a spreader bar that attaches to each compressor to keep the spacing on each side of the spring. These are compact compressors, which is great to save space on the shelf. However, that does add a bit of setup time because you have to un-thread the shafts to lengthen them. It's not an overly complex or time consuming task, but it is something to keep in mind if you plan on storing them in the case. Another note on the case, it would have been nice to have a small pocket in one half of the case to be able to store the instructions instead of just having them float around. I have some tool cases that are like that and it's just another nice touch.Overall, this seems to be a well built set of compressors that has some really nice safety features designed into them. They should serve me, or anyone doing this type of work, well.
