I first saw this product demonstrated at the IBS (International Builders Show) in Las Vegas. The demo was impressive but I was skeptical. I finally had an opportunity to try it out. I had two 20 ft by 8 ft walls that were recently drywalled and I needed to get them taped and finished fast with minimal mess. Per instructions I added the entire bag to a 5 gallon bucket of all purpose mud and mixed for 5 minutes. The first thing I noticed was that the mud was smoother almost like frosting. I have read that some use dish soap to achieve this but I have learned the hard way that soap in mud can cause adhesion problems. As I was applying the mud I began to notice that I could keep applying mud as soon as the previous layer was firm. It does not make the mud dry faster but I allows you to apply additional coats without waiting for the previous coat to dry. So in addition to making the mud easier to apply, it allows you to apply wet mud to wet mud. Because of this I was able to tape and apply two finish coats and a skim coat to both walls in a single day. Also, because you can mist it with water and keep troweling, you don't need to sand. The job turned out awesome and was done it one day with zero dust.I definitely recommend this product but be sure and follow the directions and mix it well with your preferred drywall mud. Remember that it won't make the mud dry faster but you can add more layers as soon as it firms. In my case I was able to add another layer after about 30 minutes.

We needed 2 bags to complete a 650 sqft room. It may be a little expensive, but for a DIY'er this worked great to save time and mess, I consider it very worth it. Years ago we removed most of the popcorn in our house and used a hopper for an orange peel texture. But we didn't live in the house while doing that. We didn't want to scrub mud off of walls or deal with all the sanding dust. We used a simple 9" 3/4 nap roller on a pole, mixed Muddskip with a premix joint compound and water. Rolled on, smoothed out with a large skimming blade, and done, so this ceiling looks much nicer than the orange peel areas. We did do it on two different sessions, and worked fine. So if you aren't a perfectionist, want less mess and dry time, this is really the way to go. It's very forgiving, and we just used a simple spray bottle when we needed to overlap a section or smooth an area after it started to dry a bit. That's how you save on sanding, is being able to smooth it for longer.

We love how the product makes the mud smooth out evenly & sand like a dream! This product is PERFECT for jobs where you need to get in an out fast so you can go wet on wet without any issues. We recently used it on a job where we had to cut and remove sheetrock behind a toilet due to rotting & reinstall new sheetrock with the toilet back in place by 3pm so the tenants could have a restroom. With time as a constraint this product allowed us to expedite the job process and make it look exceptional!

I used this on several ceiling repairs at a customer's home where I did not want to create any dust. I liked that you can mist it with water and rework it. However it's hard to feather the edges where it meets existing flat surfaces. I ended up coating the edges with easy sand and doing as little sanding as possible to make the repairs blend. The ratio for mixing into bag mud is confusing if you're not using the entire bag at once. I think I used to much mudd skip mixed with powdered mud and it came out sort of grainy. You can really feel the texture on your knife when applying it. Its a nice product and really changes the mud, there is a trial and error period when first using this product.

Skeptical at first, my very first joint/defect repair convinced me of this additive's worth. So subtle was the smooth application, immediate leveling and speed of recoating that I took it for granted until I realized that my entire repair was glass smooth that same day with only slight sanding block touchups to side-lighting perfection. Now I can pick standard or speed mud depending on my schedule and just add the Muddskip instead of having to purchase separate buckets or boxes, matching the mixing proportions to my project volume, so the first bag lasted me months of homeowner use.

I’m a General contractor and we do a lot of drywall. So the big price tag didn’t scare me as long, as we saved time, and got good results. The videos are really impressive, so I bit! We added this product to a brand new box of mud and mixed thoroughly with heavy drill and paddle. We did not add any water. Applied per instructions, and it simply does not firm up any faster than other mud. ( I wasn’t expecting it try dry any faster, but I was expecting to be able to top it faster as advertised). Unfortunately, We were not able to top it the same day.I waited overnight and it was still not firm enough to top as advertised. There were some dry areas on the wall that had a few ridges as expected. I sprayed it lightly with fresh clean tap water and it all bubbled instantly. The bubbles increased with every pass. I troweled the ridges and the bubbles tripled in number! Now I have to wait again, so that I can scrape the bubbles and top with hot mud. We usually use hot mud for the first coat, but I thought I would try this out. It looks great on the video, but beware!Look at the previous review that rave about this product you can see that they are “PLANTS”. I see it clearly now!I’ll be returning the remaining 11 bags I purchased. Yes, I spent $300 bucks my first pop!IF YOU DONT HEED THIS WARNING, then buy only one bag to try it out. Be sure to take your hot mud with you. You’ll need it!You’re welcome!Make it a great day today!

I was so really burnt out from having to mud over 3 rooms that had a textured finish. When I found out about Muddskip I ordered it. It saved me. It smooths on like butter and its workability is about 5 times longer than plain drywall mud. It’s a total game changer. I’m not going to say that there isn’t going to be at least some sanding. It actually was smoother than the already sanded regular mud so I had to match them up. I’ll never do dry wall stuff again with out it.
