Bass clarinet stand

This is s great stand; very solid and secure. The 2 U-shaped brackets on the uprights hold the bell and the body of the horn very securely. The horn can't slip downward or twist sideways out of the stand. I would feel very confident using this stand with an expensive instrument. I used it with a Low-Eb Bass Clarinet. I have not used the stand with a Low-C Bass Clarinet.Features - The uprights have adjustable friction locks. The taller upright can be extended about 5 inches. This allows you to position the U-support so that it rests against the body rather than the side keys. The shorter support extends about 5 inches. This allows you to raise bell off the ground more in case you have the floor peg extended on the horn. This only works up to a point. If extended too far, the floor peg will hit against the stand or floor and the bell won't seat firmly in the U-support. There are 2 threaded holes for accessory horn pegs. There are big rubber feet on the legs. The stand collapses down to 26.5" L x 6" W x 5" H. The 2 uprights fold down and the 2 adjustable legs fold back.Minor 'cons':1. As noted in other reviews, the stand is a little awkward to carry. I also would recommend some type of bag for carrying.2. If you double on instruments and, more specifically, if you play for shows/musicals, you often have only a quick few measures to switch horns. Grabbing/replacing the Bass Clarinet from this stand is not as quick-and-easy as, for example, grabbing/replacing a sax from a typical sax stand. If you often need to make a quick swap, you might want to consider a different type stand, such as a combination Bassoon/Bass Clarinet stand.Even with these minor 'cons', I am very pleased with the stand and highly recommend it.The order was processed by Amazon and it arrived quickly and in good condition.

I ordered a DS560B and instead received a DS651B. The DS651B does not have the upright bell support. I was charged for the DS560B which was $12 more.I'm keeping the one I got because the DS560B is no longer available.I feel I should be refunded the difference.Otherwise, Hercules products are great. I have saxophone stands from them that I like. Good build quality.

Very sturdy and stable. It's lightweight and seems well constructed. I was able to install the pad to rest the peg in very easily. I wish it had a little more instructions on how to fold it up but I was able to figure it out after a few minutes. This can fit in a small backpack, tote bag or tripod bag (it sticks out of this a bit) for transport.

Good and sturdy -- as any stand for a large, expensive instrument should be. What makes me fond of this stand is the 2 swiveling legs and options for extra instrument pegs: when I'm playing multiple instruments in a crowded pit orchestra, I need all the options I can get! Swivel legs help the stand fit in the forest of nearby chairs and music stands, and the extra pegs (sold separately, but for a good price) cut down on the number of additional stands I need for other instruments.Another minor plus is that the box it comes in has a plastic carrying handle. The stand and box themselves are rather bulky, but just *having* a box with a handle means I can throw a music stand and other accessories into the box, so overall it saves space.

I found this item to be very satisfactory. It is easy to unfold and then collapse, and provides a sturdy support for my instrument. My only complaint is that it is a bit cumbersome to tote around and a carrying bag would be a nice addition.

This stand is so awesome I have now ordered my second one. (I like to keep two instruments ready to play at all times.) It is rock solid. With two cats in the house whose instinct is to brush up against anything, these stands hold up. I never have to worry about my bass clarinets toppling over. Bonus - I ordered an extra piece which screws in to the bottom of stand - sturdy soprano clarinet holder - with felt covering. Sweet. The stand is more for stay at home - I would not travel with this, tends to be a bit bulky. But, if I had a roadie to handle all my gear - would definitely bring on tour! ;-)
