Product delivered inside strong small cardboard box which was inside of padded envelope. No directions were included. The removal of the old was very straightforward. I used a razor blade-type scraper around the edge of sensor, then it peeled off in one piece. (The brush was used to clean the inside of the pedal housing). I loosened the 1/4" jack and rotated it to connect the new sensor. The new connector on the sensor had a blue tinted end, but I just left it intact and just plugged it in. (The old sensor had a hole in the metal contact inside the clear plastic, so it was useless). The old rubber part simply pulls right off. It was extremely stiff compared to the new one. I hooked up the pedal and it worked perfectly -Just like new!

I've had my Roland FD-8 Pedal for over 10yrs and the rubber actuator dried out and became so stiff it would'nt flex anymore. This kit fix it!!!My FD-8 feel and works like brand new. If anyone has had problems I can guess that they didn't or couldn't clean away the self-adheasive gum from the old sensor. Even with a heatgun it's really difficult to remove the old sensor and the film of gum remained, I used naptha (mineral spirits and denatured alcohol didn't work). GooGone or WD-40 might work too, since they have a solvent in their recipe... no matter what it will be slow going getting all the gum off. For the kit to work the metal (base) plate must be perfectly clean. Lastly, I found it easier to remove the jack in order to disconnect/reconnect the membrane wire, just one nut and then gently slide the little collar back a tiny bit... piece of cake.

I’m a heavy hitter with both hands and feet, and have gone through two Roland hi hat pedals because of it. I thought I was going to need to buy another pedal, but this saved me from having to do that. Fairly easy install & it works like new!

Product came properly packaged. It is a replacement fit for the high hat only. It is a good replacement fit though.

Trying to save a dollar, I went with this aftermarket sensor actuator and rubber for my FD8 hi-hat pedal. Unfortunately, it was more trouble than it was worth as it's already starting to act up after just a few months! At least the OEM lasted over a decade!Dis-assembly of the foot pedal was easy and the install was fairly straightforward, except for the sensor actuator connector strip which was too wide to fit into the 1/4" receiver port. I ended up having to trim the strip slightly so it would fit. After that, I re-assembled everything without issue and the pedal was working great for awhile, but now it's back to being very stiff and barely 'closing' the hi-hat without using a lot of downward force. The rubber must be very low quality and is therefore already hardening.Trying to save money has now cost me more, as I am going to have to purchase the Roland OEM kit and refurbish this foot pedal all over again. I do not recommend this product - the quality just isn't there.
