HIC Kitchen’s Rectangular Heavyweight Cast Iron Bacon Press holds bacon flat and distributes heat evenly so it cooks faster, with more crispy surfaces, and without curling, shrinking, or spattering. Building sandwiches with flat, crispy bacon is easier, especially making BLTs. It works on the stovetop, grill, or griddle for crisping paninis, quesadillas, soft taco shells, hash browns, keeping steaks, burgers, and pork chops from curling up, removing unwanted fat, pressing out whey for making cheese, thick yogurt, and more. Easily season the press before first use. Simply wash and dry it thoroughly, lightly coat a frying pan and the cooking surface of the press with vegetable oil, place the press face down into the pan and heat over a low flame for 20 minutes, then wipe away excess oil before storing it away. When ready to cook bacon, add a light coating of vegetable oil to a frying pan and pre-heat over medium heat. Lay bacon strips side-by-side in the pan, set pres on top, and cook to desired crispiness. Bacon Press can be preheated for faster cooking times. Made from heavyweight cast iron and wood, HIC Kitchen’s Rectangular Bacon Press is sturdy, durable, safe with careful use in non-stick cookware, and hand washable. Dry thoroughly and coat lightly with vegetable oil before storing. If there are signs of rust, simply re-season. Brought to you by HIC, a third-generation family owned and operated company in the USA since 1957.

Works great, the weight of the cast iron keeps bacon nice and flat and shortens cook time! It’s a little short so you have to cut your bacon, and if you keep it oiled it shouldn’t rust! I haven’t had any problems with it and plan to have it a long time!

My grandfather used one of these for cooking bacon. It has taken me 40-years to buy one. I like it. It does exactly what I expected: keeps the bacon flat against the pan and help cook it through. No surprises.

If you want to fry up perfectly even bacon, this is the best thing ever! Speeds up cooking time as well since the entire surface area of the bacon is touching the pan. Also if you ever make sliders in a pan or a flat top, this is great for keeping them from cinching up. You can make your patties the exact size of your bun and they turn out perfect. Again because you are keeping the meat flat to the surface and thin, cooking time is cut in half.Treat it just like any other cast iron product - don't use harsh soap (no soap is better) and season it right after it's cleaned. My wife used it once and it was covered in rust the next day, so it took me some time to get it back to original shape.
