Always wanted to give one of these a try, but never could really justify until now. We finally added enough drop-D tunes that made it worth while. It works great. Easy install on my Fender Jazz. Just remove the nut, take out the screws, remove the original tuner, drop the new one in, and lighting everything back dow. Maybe five minutes. Make sure you order the right model to fit your particular bass. The only thing you have to be careful with, is your tuning. Because of the friction of the string over the nut on the bass head, you need to tune it, through the switch down and back up, then check your tuning again. repeat until it stays where your want it. Tuning the "dropped" note is done with a little finger screw on the back. It sounds an awkward, and it is the first few times you do it, but once you get the idea, it becomes very strait forward. It also stays in tune as well as, if not better than my original tuner. thumb lever is out of the way in both positions, even with my crappy left hand technique. 5 stars, great simple design. Go get one!

I should have bought this 20 years ago! It fit perfectly on my 77 P-bass. Set up was very quick and easy. I never cared for 5 string Basses and tuning my E string from E to D during a set was a pain. Now it's just a quick flip of a lever! Wonderful design! Now I want one for all of my Basses!

I have used several Hipshots in the past and current use on a couple of my instruments so when I wanted one for my MIA Geddy Lee signature 72 reissue Jazz bass I felt fairly confident from the information provided it'd work. BT2 will NOT work on the US Geddy Lee Signature bass. It isn't even close. The Geddy bass has the tuners that are reverse winding than current tuners; original in the 72 model. That isn't the issue, the holes for the BT2 just do not line up. They aren't even close and is completely useless unless you want to drill 4 new holes in the headstock to accommodate it, that's not gunna happen. Had to return product. I give 5 stars for Hipshot for the ones that worked like one I recently got my for my MIM P-bass. That was perfect. I give three stars because if they meant for his to be for a Geddy Lee MIM bass, it might have worked, I don't know, but still I purchased this solely on my past experience in the quality and the item description for this particular one which I was let down. Return was painless thought to I applaud that.

Purchased and it was missing the screws and ferrule, the post didn’t sit right and it was too tight in the stock ferrule. Returned that one and bought again and don’t have any problems. All the pieces were included and it installed just fine

You still need a tuner as this will not stay in tune from E switching to drop D. Unbelievably expensive! Returned and paid the shipping which not a good buying experience from Solo Music.
