PATENTED SPRING DESIGN: The HODAG Licking Branch utilizes a spring feature to handle the aggression of the largest bucks. The natural action of the branch on a spring makes it more enticing for bucks to scent mark. Deer hunters who use mock scrape setups that don't utilize a spring are often disappointed to find their branch laying on the ground in front of their trail camera or deer stand, forcing them to take it down or attempt to restart the deer scent communication process from square one.
TIPS FOR USE
LOCATION: Place in an area that doesn't have a lot of low hanging branches, this will make your setup the center of attention to any deer that passes by; mature timber, man-made trails, and field edges are great spots to start your search. If you place in an area rich with low hanging branches or natural scrapes, deer interaction on your setup may be diluted.
SETUP: Look for a branch species that you have seen get used by deer on your property before, oak and other hard woods are safe bets if you aren't sure. The end of the branch should sit at around belly button height (3.5 feet) off the ground. This will allow does, fawns, and bucks to reach and scent mark it. Keep in mind when setting up that the leaves of your branch will fall off, eventually causing your branch to rise up without the added weight.

Recently put this out as a licking branch setup, and sprayed down with the included Hodag liquid scent. Almost immediately had little spike bucks responding.

I was let down when I opened the package when I realized it was made of plastic. Guess will see how it holds up with the spring as stiff as it is and there’s five holes to secure to the tree but only three screws.

Tried this product in high traffic area the deer walked rate by it. Tried another brand 10 feet away with stellar results.

My personal results from using this product is yet to be determined, but I have heard great things about it, definitely believe in the concept , will update the review further down the road , the only issue was that the squirt cap that came with it did not have an inner seal and allowed the cap to leak, I was able to cut a piece of plastic, place over the bottle and poke a hole in it and create a seal. Not sure if this was a one time oversight in packaging, but not a dealbreaker. looking forward to using the product in the field!

I expected a lot more. VERY CHEAP MADE PLASTIC base and weak spring. Doesn't even hold a small branch up.
