I’ll start off by saying I haven’t used these extensively, really 2 days of on-set testing. I work on big budget movies and tv shows and we only use SDI cables, so I cannot comment on any HDMI capability. That said, on a professional set nowadays you have an incredible amount of signals being bounced around and that was a huge worry of mine about the C1. My feed being wireless in this way is one of the last things that needs to be wireless (behind sound’s various antennae, wireless focus pullers, wireless iris controls, wireless feeds for AC’s & DP, wireless streaming iPad monitoring like QTake) but it would be so much more helpful if I could be. I plugged these in and expected various other depts to start complaining about things malfunctioning. But nothing happened. Everything worked!I didn’t truly get to test distance. I was never too far from the transmitter but I was far enough and through some walls where I expected less. Keep in mind I’m used to using Teradek systems that are much, much more expensive than this and I’m used to those being quirky. The video quality was good, the lag was not noticeable (this is the reason I don’t use a QTake or other streaming monitor system, I can’t have the lag). I’m not a focus puller so I can’t speak to if it’d work for them as advertised but I did put my laptop right next to a focus monitor and to my eye couldn’t see a difference. The image was a little dark, there’s many reasons for this so I’m not going to blame the device for that. I bought a few 970 batteries and I was able to run the receiver off of one for almost a full 13 hour shooting day, turning it off for lunch and when there’d be some downtime between setups. So far so good. It comes in a hard shell case that has all the foam cut to size, with 2 different types of antennas (with more types available), a DC adapter, a USB A to USB C adapter and a mini magic arm. Which is a nice array of stuff. I do think it would make more sense to have 2 DC adapters however. And you might be close to throwing that USB adapter away since you’re just gonna plug it straight into a USB C port anyway right? Here’s the rub. This thing is super picky about what cables it’ll let power it and provide video (one of the biggest advertised features is how you can just plug it into your computer). I haven’t heard of anyone being able to use a pure USB C to USB C cable of any kind (though you’ll see that in their ads). I’ve tried A LOT and not even the one that powers my Blackmagic Ultrastudio Recorder 3G and takes a video feed from it works. According to the actual company, you need a USB A on one end (this the adapter) to supply enough power. Also you won’t see the device in any device list unless it is receiving an image. The other thing is the support is less than stellar, mostly directing you to a Facebook page that mostly has people asking unanswered questions.

We are on tour and opening for the headliner. Our front of house camera needs to be struck and on the truck before 5 finger death punch needs the dock. We couldn't wait to strike a camera cable from under the feet of the audience. This option has been flawless. We added a second unit to our photographers camera. It has added wonderful options for our imag.

Unpacked these on site expecting them to work like the other Hollyland 300s we have (basically plug and play) and these just would not work. The transmitter/receiver connected successfully but the image would flicker non-stop, even when the two units were sitting on a desk next to each other. We tried manually setting the channel (instead of Auto mode) and same thing. Changed HDMI cables, tried modifying antenna positions, playing with the menu settings, nothing. We believe we got a defective set and unfortunately had to return them. Wasted too much time getting them to work.Since we were in a hurry to start our shoot, we plugged in our 300s and away we went. NO hassles. Not sure if I would risk investing in these again. Great concept. Poor execution.

I ordered this set to use for my live-stream mobile rig at church and I’m super happy with it.Having previously used the Mars 4K and experiencing signal loss when not in direct sight or further than 120 feet, I had high hopes for this one and it delivered. The mushroom antennas work like a charm even when there’s obstacles in between the TX and RX or they are not in direct line of sight. The range is no longer an issue either. This one also has lower latency compared to the Mars 4K and it’s quite noticeable. If you live stream on a regular basis or want to monitor a camera from a distance, this is a great investment.
