I make wine in my garage, and the temperature in the winter out there is between 45 and 60 F, slowing down fermentation. I purchased this heater and placed it under my primary fermenter and got the temp of the fermentation up to 72 F. I am pleased with the effectiveness of this device.

I'm warming Kombucha in a 1-gallon jug. I originally purchased the wrap-around heater, but it produced a big difference in temperature from top to bottom (~10F difference). This works much better because it heats from the bottom, so the jug produces an even temperature from top to bottom (since heat rises). The temperature sensor connects quite nicely, too; other models include a suction cup that doesn't work well, and this product uses a strap that won't come off easily. Overall, it is easy to use, and they cover the little details. The only downside I see is that when the temp is right at the on/off boundary it'll flip on and off often making the display blink a bit, it might be ever so slightly annoying, but doesn't affect it's function, no points off for that detail.

Great value but could be more accurate. If you're using it for fermenting make sure to do a test run over a couple days to compare the display temperature with actually liquid temperature. I'm using this for a hot fermentation and the display temp is about 10-15 degrees below the liquid temperature. Setting it to 75 F gets my brew up to about 88 F in a 1 gallon car boy wrapped in a towel.

I bought the unit in March 2024. Used it for a carboy heater. The third use all the readout digits went out.

I haven't had a chance to brew yet, but wanted to test the heating pad out so I set it under my 6 gallon carboy and filled it about half way with water. I hooked up the temperature sensor, which would have been less awkward of there had been some element of elastic in the strapping, but it worked out OK. I plugged it in and turned on the controller. It displayed the measured temperature (59F). I clicked up to 70F, and it showed that, then back to 59F. I think it's on. I mean, maybe? Let's check the manual. The manual says it includes a temperature controller, but it also has a heating safety device to keep it from overheating, and if you want accurate temperatures, you can use a temperature controller. And because heat can kill yeast, you might want to put a spacer like paint sticks or wood pencils between the heat pad and carboy.OK, confusion and bad grammar I can forgive, but the instructions for paint sticks and wood pencils are not how temperature controlled heat pads work and appear designed to maximize the (albeit still low) fire hazard potential for this product. At any rate, once I got over all that, the heating pad raised the temperature of three gallons of water 11 degrees F over roughly the course of a day, then maintained it there. And that slow temperature increase is perfect - the purpose of this product isn't to heat the wort, it is to maintain the temperature. There are two things I would want to see changed on this product. The manual shouldn't give dangerously bad advice. And the controller should make it clear at a glance whether the heater is on and whether it is up to temperature.

This is working well for us through 2 winters of baking. It's been great for proofing in our old cold drafty rental kitchen. Our home last year had trouble keeping temp and this year we are living somewhere colder! The idea of a heating pad was recommended to me on a baking forum and this one has worked great now for almost 2 years. It gets hot, hotter than I expected, and found that while there aren't major hot spots it does help to have a tea towel or silicone trivet as a buffer or offset between the pad and proofing containers. Probe is plenty long and keeping it away from the edges of the bowl provides pretty consistent and accurate results. There's a lot of extra cord but easy enough to twist tie and wrangle it all on the counter. This has been a huge help and it's very well made. Overall I recommend this heating pad.

I used this to soak cycad seeds in a solution of enzymes to quicken the removal of the pulp layer on the outside of the seeds. This heater kept the solution in the pot at the perfect 95 degrees, which is much better than other methods I have tried. In the winter, this will go under my cat's bedding! Hooray!

Works well but when at the desired temperature it constantly clicks on and off. Red light to green light.

It seemed to work on the test carboy we did with water, we shall see when we get the mead going how it stands the true test. Controls are easy to use and it comes with plenty of room on the cords for easy use.

I have it set for 75F and its stuck at 73F. I know it on because the red light is on. If the light would be green it would be at the temp set for 75F. Been 4 days and still suck at 73 with red light on

I purchase this as a new product. However it came as an open box and used. This was not stated or adverted as used. The sensor is not accurate but seems to still keep my beer warm.
