I should start off by saying I've owned this fan before. In 2010 I bought this exact same fan under a different brand name, and until a few weeks ago had been running it pretty much constantly on low until finally it quit. When I saw the product photo I could hardly believe it and I bought it immediately. The first question you might have on your mind is, why?Let's start with the longevity. Sure, it died, but that was after 7 years of near-constant use. Morning, noon, and night that's roughly 60,000 hours of relentless operation. A post-mortem examination revealed that the inside of the motor housing was jam packed with 7 years of cat hair and dust. The heat from the motor had no place else to go and the poor thing just gave up!Next, this thing moves a lot of air even on low. The metal wire guard doesn't obstruct airflow like a lot of the newer plastic ones do (I'm looking at you, Lasko), and the large rounded blades are capable of pushing a lot of air without much effort. It's quiet but not too quiet. If you're like us and like to sleep with a fan on for a bit of white noise I feel that the low setting provides the perfect amount. The heavy round base and tall stand. Unlike my old Room Essentials version of this fan which had a flimsy base and a short stand, this one stands tall and the weighted base is not easy to knock over. Nothing else at this price point has a round, weighted base like this one. There are two things you should be aware of if you're going to own this fan. The first is that nearly all of the airflow comes through the inner two inches surrounding the motor housing. If you have pets or a lot of dust that inner ring is going to fill up and the fan will feel weak until you clean it. Same goes for the blades, which will collect pet hair and dust along the leading edges and render the fan useless until you remove the wire guard and clean them. The second thing is that dust will collect inside the motor housing through the cooling holes in the rear and eventually cause the fan to die. If you have a skinny screwdriver I highly recommend that from time to time you remove the motor housing and clean this out with your vacuum. It's easy and it only takes a couple of minutes. I wish I'd done all of that, I'm convinced my previous fan would have survived another 7 years if I had. (If this gives you pause, I'd like to remind you that every single pedestal fan on the market is going to die an early death from this very problem. The difference is this fan is a durable workhorse that is worth a little effort to prolong its life.)My only gripe with the fan is the wire metal guard is cheaply made and can be a pain assemble. I'm not going to dock it a star because everything else makes up for it.In summary, this is an excellent low-tech fan. If all you want is a simple fan without any remotes, lights, or gadgets this one is for you. Keep it clean, treat it right, and it'll continue to chooch long after all of those other goofy fans have passed on to the electronic graveyard.

I've had this fan for over 6 months now. It works good. The stand is sturdy, doesn't tip easily. It's a little louder that I like, but tolerably.

job #1, ignore the instructions. They are quite useless. The one I received had evidently been previously opened. I guess they gave up on assembly & returned it.After 10 mins of trying to make sense of the instructions, I just laid out all the bits, cracked open a beer and, tried to not over think it. tbh, I was on the verge of calling it a day, when suddenly had an 'a-ha' moment.Stand is a bit flimsy & blades are not quite 16-inch, but It is quiet & does what it it says it will do.It is also easy to disassemble - important for cleaning the blades.(my previous fans were expensive all metal, pre-assembled but impossible to open the guard for fan cleaning because the tiny screws were made of such cheap metal they deformed as soon as they saw a screwdriver). If Homepoint had an 18-20-inch unit with a bigger motor, I'd probably buy it.

This is a perfectly good cheap pedestal fan. Its all plastic, its molded pieces all fit nicely together, and the thing clicks on and oscillates smartly when you give it juice. What's not to like? This thing doesn't ship with a remote control, if that is important to you. This fan moves a lot of air on medium and high; its whisper-quiet on medium and low.Recommended.

The fan is ok, not great. It doesn't move very much air around, which is unfortunate. It is also much louder than I would like.... It SOUNDS like it's going to help, but then it isn't very effective. I have purchased other fans from different companies that are better. The company allows returns, though, so that's a star for them!

I owned an almost identical fan which lasted over 20 years. I loved it. The motor finally gave out. RIP.When shopping for a new one, I noticed almost all the oscillating floor fans were now made of plastic, easy to knock over, filmsy. And the "new towers" were nice while they were new, but just impossible to clean, which will eventually kill the motor... I just wanted the same one I have lived with so long. And then I came across this one! Almost identical, with an improvement to the base. Nice weighted metal disc (previously was a metal X configuration), extremely simple to assemble (and breakdown for winter storage) - plus because it comes apart, the pieces can be cleaned right in the sink, dried and reassembled. Fan blade is plastic, but the blade "cage" is metal with easy attached clips to lock the front and back together. 3 speeds. And quiet - just the expected white noise of a fan, even on the highest speed. I couldn't be more pleased. To top it off, it was an excellent price and arrived lightening fast with free 2 day delivery from shipper.I thank you and do hope it has the same longevity as its predecessor.

I just bought 2 of these. And they are NOT the fan pictured, NOT the fan I ordered. I ordered this type of fan previously and it was a very good fan with easy to remove metal wire blade protectors front and back for cleaning . this fan has the control on top not on the pole as pictured, it has a plastic rear fan guide not metal wire like pictured. I wanted to reorder the fan I purchased previously because it was a very solid and great functioning fan. I was sent some cheap fan instead. I'm not going to return it because I need the fan NOW. It does spin and blow air, but it is NOT the fan I ordered.
