Nice and long. Handle is sturdy and made from a heavy gauge steel pipe. The head attaches with a roll pin and can be removed with a steel punch for repair or replacement. The pick is thick gauge metal as well. It is not sharp, so it is safe to handle while still being able to stick into the ends or skin of a log. Makes it easy to manipulate fireweed logs without having to bend over so much or use your hands to grab logs if you are working without gloves.

Plenty of weight in this tool so it doesn't take much effort to set the pick into the end of a piece of wood. The point on the pick tapers to a sharp end and easily stayed put in a whole log or split pieces allowing them to be picked up or moved aside.
