We ordered this clock after a having a bad experience with another vendor with a different grandfather clock (through Amazon). That other clock arrived damaged, was replaced, arrived damaged again, and then the seller decided they were done replacing it. We had to fight with them to return it.This Howard Miller grandfather clock arrived intact and in much better packaging. It’s a beautiful clock, and we’re very pleased with it. We have this clock in a condo we own in another city, so having a battery powered movement was essential.The only drawback to this clock is that the front doesn’t open, so if you need to adjust the time or the chimes you need to slide it away from the wall to do so.

Two things are disappointing about this clock, one is in design and the other in assembly quality. First, it has a light in it, but it is located behind the clock face, so it is pretty much only good as night light, as it does not illuminate the clock face, which is difficult to see in dim light. The quality issue is that the clock face is not oriented properly, that is, the 6 is not directly below the 12. Although it keeps prefect time and is self regulating, the hands are 1 to 2 minutes behind the chimes. so, when 12 o'clock chimes, the hands say 11:58. Annoying!
