Product Description

The FrogLog is an animal escape ramp for swimming pools that was tested and developed by wildlife biologist, Rich Mason. Rich partnered with Swimline Corp (Parent company of Hydrotools) to manufacture and distribute the product to the pool industry. The FrogLog works for animals up to one pound: Frogs, Toads, Salamanders, Chipmunks, Ducklings, Lizards, Snakes, Small Turtles, Small Rabbits, Squirrels Mice, Bees, Birds, Bats, and more. How does it work? Through hundreds of hours of testing, we determined that most animals will escape from a pool if given a way out after falling in. Many animals panic and swim around the pool edge until bumping into the FrogLog, climbing up and escaping the water. Other animals like squirrels or chipmunks may key in on the FrogLog and swim directly to it. Multiple units should be used in larger pools. Several hundred thousand are in use in 40+ countries. Our simple device has helped countless pool owners solve a pesky problem and helped conserve millions of small animals. The FrogLog is a must have for conservation minded pool owners and those that want to reduce pool maintenance and keep their pool water free of bacteria. The FrogLog is simple to set up and use, and is made of Denier nylon that is safe for pool surfaces. The effectiveness, simplicity and unique nature of the FrogLog has garnered attention from many media outlets.

I just opened my pool after a long winter. Day one and critters are already jumping in. So I got this.Last year I had another rescue floater like this, but it was junk and rotted inside of a month. This is inflatable (takes a few seconds to blow up). I put a roll of lead rope (used for fishing weights) in the flappy piece. At first I thought I had it upside down. I would think the side with the netting-like material should be on top, but it's in the water.Usually I get a mole a week, and 1-3 frogs a day in my skimmer. After I put this in, not a single animal died in my pool. It's only been a month so far, but it's working better than expected. The side wings collect leaves, but they allow animals to climb up onto the floater part. I will need a heavier weight in the pocket on the concrete. Several times a week I can see it moved as if a larger animal climbs on and moves it. Five pounds should be enough.I have this on the opposite side of the skimmer. It's closer to the grass where they come from. My guess is they enter near it to get a drink and scamper off. If I had it by the skimmer, they would go in by the grass and never make it to the skimmer side.I'd buy this again. Built good and works well so far.

So I only researched this AFTER buying it and was happy to see this is the original product, not a knock off. That means a lot because the creator is an actual wildlife expert and I always want to support creators, not thieves. I'm a new pool owner and I was so upset to see a dead baby mole in the pool skimmer basically first day after filling and then 2 days later there was a teeny baby mouse. I didn't want the source of our greatest summer fun to cost SO many little lives so I found this! I could only afford 2 right now and based on our pool size they recommend 4 or 5? I can see why but just hit "ouch" on this project so 2 will have to do. We aren't running the filters overnight anymore so I'm hoping the 2 will be sufficient and won't pull these critters to their watery graves anymore! I know there will be other casualties, I WILL get more next season for sure, but I'm glad to have something that helps. Today I found an actual frog on the frog log!! I highly recommend this.

I bought a couple of these 4 months ago to put in my mom’s swimming pool and fountain. She lives near a wild area and I clean them for her. It was breaking my heart finding drowned creatures like lizards, mice and bees regularly. Since installing them I’ve not found one creature drowned. They have held up well in Southern California heat and still look new

So far, no critters in my skimmer! This season I would have expected 2-3 birds, a rabbit, and a few frogs to be floating in my skimmer, but there has been nothing since putting this in my pool. I placed mine a few feet down from the skimmer, and I guess that's working ok even though I technically need two of these for my pool size. But so far, no critters, so I'm happy! That said, this is like the water cooler for wolf spiders, so there are 5-6 huge spiders congregated on this thing at all times, waiting for bugs to get caught in the netting at the bottom for easy dinner. You annoy one of those spiders and about a thousand babies come out of it, so having a nice place for them that's not easy to clean out is a bit annoying. But overall, I'd rather deal with a tiny bit of daily annoyance (hit the thing with my net a few times and scoop up all the bugs) than have to deal with disposing of dead animals. So, overall it's a win.Update 2020: Last season went well too, with nothing but one snake in the skimmer. I noticed when checking everything out prior to this season that the foam platform is a bit worse for wear, but it will probably last one more year. I consider this a good deal. So, 4 seasons of use out of something that sits in water and sunlight for half the year is pretty good. I appreciate no more gross dead critters in my skimmer.

WORKS FOR DUCKLINGS!!!I bought two of these because my complex has a mother duck who leads her ducklings into the swimming pool each year, and it was really difficult to get them out!!These Frog Logs worked perfectly and amazingly well! They are well-made and easy to assemble. There is an inflatable bladder at the bottom, which was easy to pump up with a hand pump. It is made from fairly thick material, so it is firm when inflated. The weight at the top has a little plastic baggie inside, and you fill the baggie and then that baggie fits neatly inside the top part. Because it's got that waterproof baggie, you can use kitty litter and not worry about what happens if it gets wet. I am not at all clever about assembly, and I put these together easily in about 5 minutes each.I put the two Frog Logs at the edge of the pool where the mommy duck was most likely to get out, and I put some food around the Frog Logs in the pool and also on top of the Frog Log platform. I used bird seed, but you could also use crumbled crackers or breadcrumbs -- anything that is about the size of half a grain of rice works, and if it floats, that's better. The food attracted them over to the Frog Logs. I also put some food on the concrete in front of the Frog Logs, so mommy would stay there and eat. It still took about a half hour of mommy duck getting out and getting back in and getting out again, before the babies climbed out. They want to follow their mom, so that's why I used the food to attract them to the Frog Logs and then to keep mommy near the Frog Logs when she got out of the pool. Those little ducklings are tiny!! Four days old. But still, they were able to hop on to the Frog Log platform and then climb the netting to get out. Once the first duckling figured it out, it was less than 2 minutes before all twelve were out of the pool.Highly, highly recommended -- this was a big win!!!!

Based on some little paw prints on our pool coping right beside this floating pad AND the fact that there have been no deceased critters in our inground pool since we installed it, I have to say it is a good product. Quality seems solid as well.
Love animals!

I’m an animal lover and I hated seeing animals drown in the pool. This has been a wonderful product so far it has save countless lives. I bought the non genuine as well and it doesn’t look like it will last long. I highly recommend this the original. I have 3 in my pool now.
