My initial post was very positive, based on out of the box functionality and adaptability. While I still find the functions great, unfortunately the pump stopped working after only a few weeks. I did have the same micro bubble issue I read in other posts. I narrowed it down to the top not getting fully seated to the bottom. I suspect the O-ring is not adequate in size to create the air tight enclosure.This product is a great concept, but bottom line if it only works for a few weeks, its a waste of money.

This filter pump is very quiet and moves a lot of water. I like that the filter media is not proprietary, like some other popular brands; you can buy it virtually anywhere if you ever need to replace it.I currently have it on a 10-gallon aquarium. I figure that it is easier to dial back the flow rate than to replace the pump if more is needed.All in all, I feel confident that this is a high-quality unit and is worthy of your consideration.

Very happy with the overall function but the orings for the flow adjusters aren't sealing fully and every now and then it sucks air causes it to slow down in functionality and sends filter debris back into the tank other then that I very much love the over ascetic and performance but I'm sure I can get a oring somewhere to seal it right

I finally got a chance to set this up in my 5g and, initially, it worked great. For about 24hrs. And then it wouldn't pull water into the intake. So I unplugged it, refilled the reservoir in the filter, and plugged it back in. Worked for about an hour and then the same thing happened again. I am getting a replacement of this to see if this filter was just defective, will update when I get the new one set up.EDIT: so I got a replacement for the smaller 10g filter, by the time that arrived the first one was working fine, I guess there was air in it somewhere causing issues, decided to keep the second as a back up.However, I then went ahead and ordered an 8w 40-60g for my 29g tank. It ran great for the first two days and then quit working altogether. It won't turn back on, even though I've taken it apart, turned it on/off. I have a different filter coming in today that I meant to put on a different tank but I'll be using it for my 29g and I won't be trying to reorder this particular hygger filter. Also, these are not made for rimmed tanks, which I did not see in the description anywhere, but maybe I missed it. So buyer beware, this will either work great or not at all.

**1.0 out of 5 stars – Disappointed and Out $40**I purchased this filter for my tank, and it was a complete letdown. It lasted less than 48 hours before it stopped working entirely—no movement, no sound, nothing. While it was working, it kept belching bubbles every hour or so, and then it quit as if it had no power. The internal design is flawed, with air bubbles likely causing the pump to fail.I also spent a significant amount of time ensuring seals were aligned and everything was tight, but it didn’t help. Customer service was unhelpful and dismissive, blaming user error despite clear video evidence of proper installation. Their response was condescending, suggesting I “make sure there’s water in the tank.â€This product feels poorly engineered, and while some units may work (based on other reviews), mine was a complete waste of money. At $40, I expected much better reliability. I won’t be buying from this company again.

It's was great while it was functioning but motor got very hot and stop working today. I received it Nov 30th. Wish the life on it was longer.

I bought 2 of these. One still works. The other quit working after 2 weeks. Nothing you can do to get rid of the air bubbles my guess as to why the pump burnt up. The internal design needs redesigned. I spent alot of time making sure that seals were aligned and everything was tight. The surface skimmer needs an engineer to get it lined up straight so it works. Now that being said, the one that still works does an awesome job and has no air bubbles coming out of the spraybar its really quiet and keeps the tank water well circulated. My guess I got one that had bad seals or piping out of tolerance. Like other reviews stated air bubbles are a problem.

This WAS my favorite filter for my aquariums, a great solution for the quality of a canister filter with the space convenience of an HOB. It came with a surface skimmer and a spray bar, what more could one ask for? It was perfect.And then it stopped.I checked the water level inside the canister. All good and full. The tank was so full that if you poured a small cup of water into it it would have overflowed (55 gallon). I plugged it into other plugs where I knew power was coming from for sure to make sure that wasn't the issue and all I got was a hot top and no flow.I'm not sure if the one I got was defective but it lasted 5 days short of a month. I'm so disappointed. I wanted this to succeed so badly. I have another one still unopened in the box that I was going to hook up to my next tank, but I might just return it at this rate as I don't want to risk the health and safety of my fish on something that could fail so quickly and without warning.Update: I decided to give the second filter a chance, and that was a mistake. The filter has completely different issues from the first one, taking in air from unknown sources. I siliconed all the connections other than the main body for obvious reasons and it was -still- taking in air. Two weeks ago (making it again less than a month since I started using it) the motor died completely and will not turn back on. These have to be the worst filters I have ever purchased. They have a good design but the product quality made it all fall aspart from what I suspect is corner cutting in manufactuaring and using cheap materials.If you want a product that will work for a couple days this is the product for you, but you're better off buying a proper HOB or a canister filter as the awkwardness of disassembling the housing (you have to take the whole thing off the side of the tank to refill or clean) on top of them seeming to be defective or stop working after less than a month make it completely not worth your time or money.
